More about Bosch Classic Line Engines (Gen1)
All Bosch e-bike drives are mid-engines, and this also applies to the Classic Line Engine ("Drive Unit Cruise"). A total of four riding modes were available. An innovative three-sensor technology ensured the best possible tuning by recording torque, speed, and cadence over 3 times per second. The Bosch Classic followed in 200.Drive Unit Speed" with support up to 45 km/h.
Can Bosch Classic Line Engines be optimized?
Yes, there is a considerable selection of highly efficient tuning tools that can be used to remove the speed limit of the Bosch Classic motor support and make the e-bikes faster.
Which Bosch Classic Tuning Tools are available?
The best tuning tools for Bosch Classic Line You can find drives here:
Badass Box 3.4 reloaded by Mountain Tuning for Bosch
The tuning classic in a new edition, and at a very affordable price. This tuning tool for Bosch e-bikes has the great advantage that the box can be easily attached (=tuning active) and removed again at any time (=tuning canceled). The original condition of the e-bike can be restored in no time. Badass Box 3.4 removes the 25 km/h speed limit, but the maximum achievable speed is limited to 36 km/h. The advantage: If you use the tool at a Bosch Smart System E-Bike, triggering the integrated tamper detection is virtually impossible. Tuning is contactless, so damage to the motors is impossible. When tuning is active (i.e., the box is plugged in), the e-bike will not display correct values. Compatible with Bosch Classic Line ( + ), Active Line ( + ), Performance Line (CX), Bosch Smart System / BES3.
JUM-Ped
The JUM-Ped for Bosch Classic motors completely removes the maximum motor support limit. Both speed and distance traveled are displayed correctly – even with active tuning. The JUM-Ped can be used without prior technical knowledge, tools, or other aids. The bike's initial configuration can be easily restored. In addition, additional settings can be made with the JUM-Ped. This tuning tool is available in two versions: one with suitable connectors for the Intuvia display, and one with connectors for the older HMI display.

Sx2 dongle
SpeedTuning for your Bosch Classic e-bike. The easy-to-install dongle completely removes the speed limit. The tuning tool simply needs to be connected to the e-bike's speed sensor in just a few steps (plug & drive). This process doesn't interfere with the motor electronics, so all Bosch riding modes (start-up profiles) are retained 100%. However, when tuning is active, only half of the actual speed is displayed. To undo the tuning, simply remove the dongle. The Sx2 dongle requires no separate batteries, is maintenance-free, and encapsulated to be splash-proof, making it 100% suitable for outdoor use. A special cable kit is required to connect the dongle. You can optionally choose the cable kit with a power switch, which allows you to turn the Sx2 dongle on and off using the light switch on the Bosch Intuvia display.
ASA Speed B25.13
A Bosch Classic Tuning Tool that allows you to completely remove the 25 km/h limitation of the motor support, so that in principle any speed can be reached (maximum speed depends on the system). Even additional functions such as mileage, maximum speed, and average speed are not affected. Installing this tuning tool does not damage the cables, so you can restore your bike to its original condition at any time. No dongles, additional switches, cables, or other attachments are necessary or visible. Operation is via the HMI controls. The lighting functions also remain available for their original purpose. Suitable for Bosch drives built between 2011 and 2012 (HMI), 2013 Intuvia (pedelecs up to 25 km/h), including 2014 Bosch. Classic Line (not suitable for Bosch Active & Performance Line).

After installation, the tuning can be activated by turning the e-bike off and then on again within 10 seconds of starting. Even with tuning active, the correct speed remains readable – however, via the second digit and the decimal place of the speed display on the e-bike display. After installation, sIMPLEk no longer visible from the outside. Suitable for all Bosch Classic, Active, Performance & CX Line Drives, optionally with HMI, NYON, or PURION control unit. This tuning kit is highly recommended for all customers with a little bit of DIY skill, especially given its affordable price.

sIMPLEk Stick for Bosch Classic
The sIMPLEk The stick is unusual in several respects: Firstly, it is the first tuning dongle that still displays the correct speed, and secondly, it is delivered as a kit that the customer has to assemble themselves. This isn't particularly difficult, as it only consists of four individual components. Before ordering, however, you should be aware that you will need to use a soldering iron to connect the circuit board to the USB connector. The stick can be attached anywhere you choose—ideally on the handlebars—so you can plug in and remove the dongle at any time. When the dongle is plugged in, the 25 km/h speed limit is lifted.
sIMPLEk Stick Pro for Bosch Classic
The sIMPLEk Stick as a finished product. A tuning dongle that completely removes the speed limit on Bosch e-bikes. Because it's a USB-connected tool, all tuning-relevant components can be removed within seconds. Compatible with Bosch Classic, Active (Plus) & Performance Line (CX). Made in Germany.
sIMPLEk Stick ECOplus
The first tuning tool for EXTENDED range. This is achieved by the ECOplus Stick, which, after installation, detects constant speeds. If this occurs, the motor assistance is gradually reduced. If the speed drops below a certain value, or after a certain period of time has elapsed, the assistance is gradually activated again. This makes a range increase of up to 20 percent possible! The 25 km/h limit of the motor support remains completely untouched by this toolPlease note that the tool is delivered as a kit consisting of four components. A soldering iron is required for assembly. The stick can optionally be attached to the handlebar, allowing it to be easily plugged in or removed.
