The RedPed 3 Tuning Module for Haibike Yamaha E-Bike Motors (PW-X / PW-SE / PW-X2 / PW-TE / PW-ST, PW-CE Display A, C & X) offers an unusually wide range of functions. The core function is, of course, the removal of the 25 km/h speed limit – but with the option to set the maximum speed to an individually desired value, etc. The configurations are conveniently configured via the RedPed App. As a real unique selling point of the RedPed 3 modules have original features like "Troll Mode" and "Workshop Mode." Another advantage is that you can view a wide range of parameters on the go via the app, allowing you to monitor your individual performance much more effectively. All this with accurate speed and distance displayed on the screen.
Our new RedPed 3 for Yamaha has all the features and benefits that were available in previous versions, but a few improvements have been added that make RedPed 3 to the best model of the entire RedPed There's probably no other tuning tool for Yamaha e-bike motors that offers such a wide range of optimization options – in other words, with this tuning module, you can truly get the most out of these Yamaha motors!

RedPed 3 for Yamaha – Functions & Features at a Glance
No more 25 km/h speed limit.
Set the maximum speed to a self-selected value of 15-45 km/h.
Tuning can be switched on and off, either via the app or using the control buttons on the e-bike.
Even with active tuning, the e-bike display shows speed and distance traveled correctly.
"Speed Offset": You can reduce the speed shown on the display to as little as -15 km/h. Example: If you set a value of -5 km/h and are traveling at a speed of (e.g.) 30 km/h, the display will only show a speed of 25 km/h, etc.
“Visibility”: Here you can set how long the RedPed in the RedPed The app should be discoverable after the e-bike has been switched on. This prevents unauthorized access to the module.
"Troll Mode": In this mode, the e-bike shuts down after a user-defined time (10-60 seconds) or restarts if no smartphone connects to the module within the specified time. This feature isn't a true theft deterrent, but it can be used to make life difficult for people who have access to the e-bike but aren't supposed to be riding it.
"Workshop Mode": If this mode is selected, the module will not manipulate the data. If the workshop mode is off, the module filters and sends manipulated data. This function can be useful if you need to take your e-bike to the workshop.
“Split speed at”: Here you can set how the speed should be split.
"Tuning Timer": Deactivates tuning after a set time.

Data display via app
The measured values can be transferred to a PC via the RedPed The app not only allows you to configure the tuning module settings, but also displays numerous useful parameters. The displayed data can be customized to your liking (change the colors of certain values, hide values, etc.). You can also change the font size (Android) or zoom in on the speedometer (iPhone).

RedPed 3 for Yamaha - Installation & Functionality
The RedPed 3 for Yamaha The module must be connected between the speed sensor and the motor, as well as between the motor and the display. Once installed, the module measures the actual speed and generates its own speed signal for the motor control unit. This breaks communication between the motor control unit and the e-bike display, and the module sends its own correct data to the display. Because it generates a lower speed, the 25 km/h speed limit is bypassed. Due to this principle, various values are incorrectly calculated by the motor control unit (e.g. the mileage), but the values are automatically corrected by the module so that all data is displayed correctly.

To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
