RimBoost – Innovative tuning solution especially for Bosch Smart System E-Bikes with rim magnet

For a long time, tuning was considered Bosch Smart System E-Bikes (BES3) with rim magnet as technically impossible. This only changed with the RimBoost Tuning chip, which is once again developed by the proven tuning specialists from "MountainTuning" was developed (“MountainTuning“ has stood for high-quality, innovative tuning solutions in the field of e-mobility since 2018).
With the RimBoost chip it was possible for the first time to exceed the 25 km/h speed limit of Bosch Smart System e-bikes with rim magnets, enabling significantly higher speeds with full motor support. This was the first practical and truly functional tuning solution for corresponding models with rim magnets.
The RimBoost tuning products are constantly being developed and adapted to new variants of the Bosch Smart System e-bikes. For this reason, there are already several generations of the RimBoost chip. RimBoost V2.38 e.g. was specially developed for Bosch Gen5 Smart System Engines that first came onto the market from the beginning of 2025 (these models can be identified by the internal technical identifier “BDU38”).
During extensive test drives, the RimBoost tuning chips proved to be extremely reliable – the Bosch Anti-Tuning Software recognized the tuning not, and there were also no error messages generated.

How it works
RimBoost is a tuning chip that must be installed in the engine compartment. The chip has four wires: two power cables, and two additional wires – one with an electromagnet, and one with a new sensor. The original rim magnet must be removed and replaced with the sensor on the RimBoost.
The RimBoost electromagnet, in turn, must be placed between the (Bosch) sensor installed in the engine compartment and the rear wheel. The electromagnet is secured to the engine housing using strong double-sided adhesive tape.
The appropriate location for the electromagnet in the engine compartment of the e-bike is determined by a smart installation routine.
The RimBoost chip itself must be connected to the connectors in the engine compartment for power supply.
By transmitting modified data to the original (internal) Bosch sensor in the motor, the drive system is outsmarted, allowing much higher speeds with full assistance. So, there's effectively no speed limit anymore!
Note: The RimBoost tuning chips are only compatible with Bosch Smart System E-Bikes with rim magnet. The chips won't work on models with a "standard" sensor (in this case, you'll need to use other tuning tools). Models with a rim magnet can be identified by the rather large magnet on the rear wheel valve – here's an example photo:
