Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters

We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.

Modifying e-bikes and e-scooters renders them ineligible for use on public roads under the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO). Legally permissible use is therefore only possible on private property or – if permitted – in competitions. Operating a modified e-bike or e-scooter on public roads can result in criminal charges for driving without a license (§ 21 StVG) and driving without insurance (§ 6 PflVG). Modifying an e-bike can void warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, in the event of an accident, modifications can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and accident victim assistance benefits. The increased speed of a modified e-bike (or e-scooter) places additional stress on the vehicle, which can pose safety risks.

Note regarding increased wear:
Using a modified e-bike or e-scooter – especially at consistently higher speeds – can lead to increased wear and tear. This primarily affects typical wear parts such as chains, chainrings, sprockets, brake pads, and other mechanically stressed components. Regular maintenance and inspection are therefore strongly recommended.

Note regarding consultation and sales:
We offer advice and sales of tuning solutions exclusively for vehicles owned by the respective user. We cannot provide any advice or recommendations regarding tuning measures for leased vehicles, rental equipment, or other e-bikes or e-scooters that are not owned by the user.
