Please note: The Badass Box 4 for Yamaha 2024 is only compatible with the slim Yamaha sensor shown above, which is integrated into the dropout.
Before ordering, please check whether your sensor's cable can be pulled out far enough from the dropout to allow the sensor to be mounted on the chainstay in front of the brake disc. Only under this condition can the sensor be used with the badassBox.
If your e-bike has the following (incompatible) sensor, which is easily accessible and mounted on the chainstay, you will need the Badass Box 4 for Yamaha:
Attention: The Badass Box 4 for Yamaha 2024 is attached to the e-bike's chainstay along with the screw-on speed sensor. Installing this tuning requires some minor modifications. Please be sure to read the installation instructions below before ordering.
Contactless e-bike tuning!
This is the best and most mature version of the Badass Box Specifically designed for e-bikes with Yamaha mid-engines, now with an even slimmer housing to avoid tight installation situations. This tuning box completely removes the 25 km/h speed limit, allowing you to ride much faster. Even more robust thanks to a special casting compound from the automotive industry (tested before and after casting). Badass Box (each individual box for proper function). New electronic design for even greater range with a single AAA battery. If necessary, the e-bike can be returned to its original state at any time.
Functionality
Once the box is installed, it transmits a modified signal to the motor. This allows you to exceed the preset speed limit. This allows you to reach (theoretically) unlimited speeds with full motor support. The modified signal is transmitted contact-free and without an electrical connection to the motor, so damage to the drive is absolutely impossible. The motor does not require any complicated opening.
Please note: Once tuning is activated, the e-bike display will no longer show the correct speed (this also applies to any values derived from it). We therefore recommend using GPS-based devices to determine your actual speed, which are generally more accurate anyway (e.g., smartphones, bike computers).
The most sophisticated Badass Box any times
Compared to the previous versions, the new Badass Box 4 has been equipped with various improvements that have optimized this tuning tool in many ways: The housing of the box is now significantly slimmer, so that there can no longer be any installation situations that are too tight.
There's also a significant improvement in range: The previous CR2 battery has been replaced with a AAA battery, which, thanks to the specially developed and patented FEET field enhancement technology ("Field Enhancement & Elimination Technology"), has a range of over 7.000 kilometers or 1 year (due to battery discharge). Of course, the battery can be easily replaced at any time, without the need for tools. Suitable AAA batteries can be purchased practically anywhere. We recommend using a new battery at the start of each season.
In addition, the electronics of the box are glued and sealed into the housing with a special potting compound, thus ensuring the best possible protection against mechanical stress and moisture. Incidentally, each Badass Box tested for correct functionality before and after casting as part of the manufacturing process.

Badass Box 4 for Yamaha 2024 – Compatibility
This Badass Box is compatible if your Yamaha e-bike has the slim Yamaha sensor integrated into the dropout (image at the top).

Badass Box 4 for Yamaha 2024 – Installation
-The integrated slim Yamaha sensor is located in the dropout area. To access the sensor you have to remove the rear wheel. Find the position of the integrated sensor in the dropout of your e-bike and loosen the screws that secure the sensor.
Place the sensor in the designated recess on the badassBox:
Attach the sensor to the badassBox using the included cylinder head screw (you'll need a 2 mm Allen key for this). Now you can mount the badassBox and sensor to the chainstay using cable ties (included).
During initial installation, the supplied spoke magnet must be installed instead of the original magnet. Our spoke magnet works without Badass Box Identical to the original magnet, but is necessary for the function with our patented field amplification when the badassBox is attached.
Reinstall the rear wheel and screw the included spoke magnet onto a spoke, pointing toward the badassBox. The spoke magnet must be aligned next to the badassBox. To check the magnet's position on the bike while stationary, lift the rear wheel, spin the rear wheel (not the cranks!), and let it spin. Check your bike's speedometer or app while doing this. The displayed speed should be steady and decrease slowly as the rear wheel rolls to a stop. If the spoke magnet touches the badassBox, place the spoke magnet as close to the badassBox as possible and rotate it 90°. That's it!
To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
