A simple but highly effective tuning solution for e-bikes with Bafang mid-engines. Badass Box 4 completely removes the 25 km/h speed limit of the drive system, allowing you to finally utilize the full potential of your Bafang motor. The annoying speed limit is now a thing of the past – get going and ride much faster with full motor support!
Attaching the Badass Box 4 is easy – unlike many other e-bike tuning tools, the motor does NOT have to be opened for initial installation.
Legal within seconds
A big advantage of this tuning tool is that you can Badass Box You can attach or remove it in seconds if you want to restore your e-bike to its original (legal) condition. Thanks to a patented snap lock, this is now even faster than ever!
This tuning tool is battery-operated. For the new Badass Box 4, the previous CR2 battery has been replaced with a more efficient AAA battery (included). If the battery runs out, it can be replaced at any time with a new one, without any tools. Suitable replacement batteries are available practically everywhere. You can expect to replace the battery once a year.
Thanks to the specially developed FEET field enhancement technology (“Field Enhancement & Elimination Technology”), the battery has a very long range.
Robust and resistant
The electronics of the Badass Box 4 is glued into the housing with a special potting compound and completely sealed, ensuring optimal protection against moisture and mechanical stress (the potting compound actually originates from the automotive industry). Each box is tested for proper function before and after potting.

Contactless e-bike tuning
After plugging in, the Badass Box A modified signal is transmitted contactlessly, allowing the speed limit to be exceeded. There is no direct electrical connection to the motor, and no interference with the motor electronics or software occurs. Accidental damage to the motor is thus impossible.
Please note: Due to the special functionality of the Badass Box the e-bike display will show an incorrect speed (also applies to values derived from it).
Tip: Simply use GPS-based additional devices such as smartphones or bike computers to display the correct speed.
Badass Box 4 for Bafang – Installation
Attaching the tuning tool is easy. Badass Box 4 has a slim, design-protected housing and must be mounted to the chainstay using cable ties. The e-bike's speed sensor must then be unscrewed and placed on the box.
During the first installation, the original magnet of the e-bike must be replaced with the supplied spoke magnet. This works just like the original magnet, but the Badass Box Spoke magnet necessary so that when attached Badass Box the patented field amplification works.
After the sensor is on the Badass Box has been placed, you must move the spoke magnet towards the edge of the housing in the direction of the snap lock. If the spoke magnet touches the box, you simply have to move the spoke magnet as close as possible to the Badass Box Put it in and turn it 90° – that's it, the installation is complete and you can get started!

Tools
To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.

Delivery takes 1-3 business days within Germany. In exceptional cases, it can take up to 8 business days. Delivery times outside Germany may take longer. Please understand that due to high demand, some products may experience longer delivery times.

Shipping costs for Germany are €4,90; shipping is waived for orders over €180. For countries within the EU, shipping costs are €12,90; shipping is waived for orders over €2.000. We currently do not ship to countries outside the EU. We also do not ship to the USA, France, or Canada (including any overseas territories). We ask that you bear the costs of any return shipments yourself. Please note that customs duties may apply in countries outside the European Union.
