This tuning set was specially designed for e-bikes with a Bosch motor and a Bosch sensor integrated into the dropout (see images below). The set contains not only the actual tuning tool, the Badass Box 4, but also all the elements required for installation (screws, adapters, etc.). This allows you to conveniently order all the parts you need for your Bosch tuning with just one click. This saves you money and time.

Within the Badass Box 4 is a simple yet highly effective tuning tool that completely removes the 25 km/h speed limit on Bosch e-bike motors. This allows you to finally harness the full power of your powerful Bosch drive system, without the annoying speed limit. The tool works not only with many older Bosch e-bike drives, but also with the Bosch Gen 4 drives from 2020/21 (see below for exact compatibility).

Within the Badass Box 4 is a non-invasive tuning tool - this means that there is no direct intervention in the engine electronics, so that no accidental damage can occur.

Within the Badass Box 4, the required wiring needs to be installed once, after which the tuning can be switched on and off by plugging and unplugging the box. Thanks to a patented snap lock and a new, slimmer housing, this is now even faster than ever. The e-bike's original (legal) condition can be restored at any time if necessary.

Please note that installing the tuning set requires some modifications, so a little bit of manual skill is required. Therefore, please read the installation instructions below before you decide to order the tuning set.

How does it work Badass Box 4 for Bosch?

After plugging in, the Badass Box 4, a modified signal is used to circumvent the 25 km/h speed limit. This means the motor support no longer stops at 25 km/h, allowing you to ride much faster with full support.

Important: Due to this functional principle, the e-bike display will no longer show the correct speed when tuning is active, and this also applies to values ​​derived from it. Therefore our tip: Simply use GPS-based devices such as your smartphone to display the correct data while on the go (real speed, distance traveled, etc.). We recommend simply connecting your smartphone to the GPS using special "brackets“ to be attached to the handlebars.

The Badass Box 4 is powered by a replaceable AAA battery. Thanks to the specially developed and patented FEET field amplification technology, you can go a long way on a single battery. We recommend replacing the battery once a year at the start of the season. Suitable replacement batteries are available at affordable prices almost everywhere; you don't even need any tools to replace them.

installation Guide

You'll find the integrated Bosch sensor near the dropout of your e-bike. You'll need to remove the rear wheel to access the sensor:

Now you need to locate the position of the sensor in the dropout (the sensor shape shown is an example):

Now you need to loosen the screws of the bracket that attaches the sensor to the dropout:

Now you need to attach the universal adapter to the Bosch sensor using a cylinder head screw, washer and nut (all included in delivery):

Now you can attach the universal adapter, together with the screwed-on Bosch sensor, to the chainstay using the supplied cable ties:

Now you have to Badass Box onto the adapter until it clicks into place. Then reinstall the rear wheel. Now all that remains is to mount the spoke magnet and attach it to the edge of the Badass Box Align the housing. That's it!

Badass Box 4 for Bosch X-Set – Compatibility

E-bikes with a Bosch sensor integrated into the dropout, powered by one of the following Bosch mid-engines:

Active Line, Performance Line, CX Line & Active Line Plus.

Also compatible with Bosch 4th generation e-bike mid-engines (model year 2020/2021).

Not compatible with Bosch Smart System 2022!

Important note - please note:

This "Badass Box You only need the "4 Bosch X-Set" if the Bosch sensor shown is integrated into the dropout of your e-bike:

If the sensor integrated into the dropout has the shape of the second sensor (see image below), then it is the so-called G4 Speed ​​Sensor, which is used on Trek e-bikes, for example. In this case, you will need the Badass Box 4 for Bosch G4 set.

If the Bosch sensor of your e-bike is easily accessible on the chainstay, you only need the usual Badass Box 4 for Bosch e-bike motors.
