Badass Box 4 for Giant Engines
A proven and practical tuning tool, this time in a version especially for Giant E-bikes with Yamaha mid-engines (the tool is only compatible with e-bikes with the sensor shown above left). Badass Box 4 completely removes the 25 km/h speed limit, so you can finally use the full power of your Giant After the initial installation, the tuning can be adjusted at any time by plugging and unplugging the Badass Box and moving the supplied spoke magnet on or off.
Please note that if tuning is enabled, an incorrect speed will be displayed (this also applies to values derived from it). Tip: You can use GPS-based devices such as smartphones or bike computers to display the correct speed when tuning is active.
Attention: If you have a different sensor (the crossed out one in the top right corner), then you need the Badass Box Giant 2020!
Within the Badass Box 4 there are some significant improvements compared to the previous models:
-The box has been slimmed down so that installation situations are no longer too tight (the sensor application is now only 3 mm).
-The O-ring of the previous version has been replaced by a patented snap lock, so that the box can be plugged in or out faster than ever before.
- Even more robust and less sensitive to moisture, as the electronics in the box are sealed with special potting compound from the automotive industry.
- New AAA battery provides a significantly longer range. Batteries of this type are available practically everywhere and only need to be replaced after more than 7.000 km or one year. This is also due to the specially developed, patented "FEET" field enhancement technology ("Field Enhancement & Elimination Technology").
- Now also with optional fastening security using cable ties on the snap fastener.
- Double quality control. Every Badass Box is tested for correct functionality before and after casting.
- The Badass Box 4 for Giant is 100% Made in Germany (developed and manufactured in Germany).
Functionality
The Badass Box It is attached to the e-bike's speed sensor and then sends a modified signal to the motor, which lifts the speed limit. This occurs contactlessly and without directly interfering with the motor electronics, thus preventing damage to the motor.
Badass Box 4 for Giant – Installation & Activation
The initial installation of the Badass Box 4 is simple; there is no need to open the engine.
In principle, the Badass Box 4 for Giant simply pull it over the speed sensor next to the rear wheel (you can find the speed sensor on the chainstay of your e-bike). Once the snap lock clicks into place, the box is securely attached to the sensor. If you want, you can Badass Box additionally secure with cable ties.
Please note that during initial installation, you must replace the original magnet with the supplied spoke magnet. This spoke magnet works just like the original magnet, even without the Badass BoxHowever, when the box is attached, the spoke magnet is required for the patented field amplification technology to function.
Nachdem die Badass Box Once the speed sensor has been plugged into the hub, you need to move the spoke magnet toward the edge of the housing, in the direction of the snap lock. Now the e-bike is tuned, and the speed limit has been removed!
To stop the tuning, you have to Badass Box 4 and move the spoke magnet back to its original position. The e-bike now has its original handling characteristics back, and the motor support stops at 25 km/h. The current speed is also displayed correctly again.

Important: Please DO NOT perform a software update on your GIANT e-bike drive system! The tuning may no longer work afterward. Using the Ride Control app is also not recommended, as the app could force an automatic software update.

Tools
To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.

Delivery takes 1-3 business days within Germany. In exceptional cases, it can take up to 8 business days. Delivery times outside Germany may take longer. Please understand that due to high demand, some products may experience longer delivery times.

Shipping costs for Germany are €4,90; shipping is waived for orders over €180. For countries within the EU, shipping costs are €12,90; shipping is waived for orders over €2.000. We currently do not ship to countries outside the EU. We also do not ship to the USA, France, or Canada (including any overseas territories). We ask that you bear the costs of any return shipments yourself. Please note that customs duties may apply in countries outside the European Union.
