Contactless E-Bike Tuning! The popular Badass Box 4 in a version specially designed for Giant 2020 e-bikes with Yamaha mid-engines. This tuning tool completely removes the 25 km/h speed limit of the drive, so you can finally use the full potential of your powerful pedelec motor. A major advantage of the Badass Box is that the box can be attached or removed in a flash with just one hand after the initial installation. Combined with the sliding of the spoke magnet, this allows the tuning to be switched on and off in a matter of seconds. Furthermore, the bike can be returned to its original condition at any time. Thanks to a streamlined housing and a patented snap lock, this is now even faster than ever before.
Please note: When tuning is enabled, an incorrect speed will be displayed (this also applies to values derived from it). Tip: You can use GPS-based devices such as smartphones or bike computers to display the correct speed when tuning is enabled.
Within the Badass Box 4 has some significant improvements compared to previous versions:
- The box has been slimmed down so that installation situations are no longer too tight (the sensor thickness is now only 3 mm).
- The O-ring of the previous version has been replaced by a patented snap lock, so that the box can be plugged in or out faster than ever before.
- Even more robust and less sensitive to moisture, as the electronics in the box are sealed with special potting compound from the automotive industry.
- A new AAA battery provides a significantly longer range. Batteries of this type are available practically everywhere and provide a very long range. We recommend replacing the battery once a year at the start of the season. This long range is due, in part, to the specially developed, patented "FEET" field enhancement technology ("Field Enhancement & Elimination Technology"). You don't even need tools to replace the battery.

Functionality
The Badass Box It is attached to the e-bike's speed sensor and then sends a modified signal to the motor, which lifts the speed limit. This occurs contactlessly and without directly interfering with the motor electronics (or software), thus preventing any damage to the motor.
Installation
A complex opening of the engine is not necessary. Badass Box 4 for Giant 2020 is mounted on the chainstay using cable ties (included in delivery) and the speed sensor of the e-bike is unscrewed and placed on the box.
Proceed as follows:
-You will find the integrated Giant Sensor in the area of the dropout of your Giant 2020 e-bikes. To access the sensor, the rear wheel must be removed. Now you need to locate the integrated sensor and loosen the screws that secure it.
-Now you have to insert the sensor into the designated recess on the Badass Box place.
-Mount the Badass Box together with the sensor using the cable ties (included) on the chainstay.
-During initial installation, you must replace the original magnet with the included spoke magnet (the included spoke magnet works exactly like the original magnet - however, the replacement is necessary for the field amplification technology to work).
-Now reinstall the rear wheel and screw the supplied spoke magnet onto a spoke so that the magnet points to the Badass Box You have to place the spoke magnet next to the Badass Box Align. To check the position of the magnet on the stationary e-bike, lift the rear wheel, turn the rear wheel (not the cranks!), and let it run. While doing this, pay attention to your e-bike's speedometer or app: The speed should be displayed evenly and gradually decrease as the rear wheel slows down. If the spoke magnet touches the box, all you have to do is place the magnet as close to the box as possible and turn it 90° - that's it!

Important: Please DO NOT perform a software update on your GIANT e-bike drive system! The tuning may no longer work afterward. Using the Ride Control app is also not recommended, as the app could force an automatic software update.
To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
