Badass Box 4 for Pendix E-bike drives
Ride without limits and finally enjoy the full potential of your e-bike - this tuning tool makes it possible! The optimized version of the Badass Box is now also available in a version specifically for e-bikes with Pendix Mid-engines (at Pendix It is a system that allows normal bicycles to be upgraded to motorized e-bikes.
The Badass Box 4 means that the 25 km/h speed limit of your Pendix The tuning can be switched on or off at any time. You only have to plug or unplug the box and move the spoke magnet slightly. With the optimized Badass Box 4, this is now faster and easier than ever before, thanks to the slimmer housing and a patented snap closure.
This tuning tool is battery-operated and has a range of approximately 7.000 km or 1 year (due to battery discharge). This is made possible by the use of a powerful AAA battery and the specially developed, patented field enhancement technology "FEET" ("Field Enhancement & Elimination Technology"). Of course, the battery can be replaced at any time, without the need for any tools. Suitable replacement batteries can be found inexpensively on almost every corner.
Since the electronics of the Badass Box 4 is glued and sealed into the housing with a special casting compound from the automotive industry, it is very well protected against moisture and mechanical stress on the wheel.
The Badass Box 4 was developed and manufactured in Germany – a genuine quality product "Made in Germany." Each individual box is tested for proper function before and after casting.
Functionality
As soon as the Badass Box 4, it transmits a modified signal (the Pendix The drive cannot be damaged in the process. This essentially outsmarts the system, eliminating the 25 km/h speed limit.
Due to this special functionality, the e-bike's speedometer no longer displays the actual speed when tuning is active (i.e., the box is connected) (this also applies to derived values). We recommend using GPS-based additional devices to display the correct speed (e.g., smartphones or bike computers).
Compared to previous versions, the Badass Box 4 for Pendix a whole series of improvements:
Completely redesigned, significantly slimmer housing, so that tight installation situations are finally a thing of the past.
The O-ring of the previous version has been replaced by a patented snap lock, which allows the box to be plugged and unplugged even faster.
Longer range than ever before (up to 7.000 km) as the previous CR2 battery has been replaced by a much more powerful AAA battery.
From now on, an additional optional fastening security using cable ties on the snap fastener is possible.
Installation
The installation of this tuning tool is easy and can be done by yourself. It is Badass Box 4 No need to open the motor housing for installation.
The box simply has to be placed over the Pendix The speed sensor can be mounted next to the rear wheel (you'll find the speed sensor on your bike's chainstay). When the snap lock clicks into place, the box is securely attached to the sensor. If you want, you can further secure the tool with cable ties.
Tip: During initial installation, you should replace the spoke magnet's screw with the included flat-head screw. Once you've done this, you can easily move the spoke magnet in the future without any additional tools.
After putting on the Badass Box 4 on the speed sensor, the spoke magnet must be moved to the edge of the housing in the direction of the snap lock. Now the e-bike is tuned and the 25 km/h speed limit of the Pendix Motors was lifted.
To undo the tuning you have to Badass Box Simply pull it off and return the spoke magnet to its original position. The e-bike will then be returned to its original state.

Badass Box 4 for Pendix – Compatibility
This Badass Box 4 fits all Pendix E-bike mid-engines with the previous sensor.
You can find the compatible (previous) sensor in the picture.
Important: With the new Pendix-Sensor is the Badass Box 4 not compatible (see image above).
To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
