No more 25 km/h speed limit! The proven Badass Box is now also available in an optimized version 4 specifically for e-bikes with TQ mid-drive motors (not compatible with Haibike Flyon). This tuning tool is easy to install and completely removes the speed limit. This allows the TQ drive to fully develop its power, allowing you to ride much faster with full motor support.
A real advantage of this tuning tool is that the legal original condition of the e-bike can be restored within seconds. All you have to do is move the spoke magnet to its original position and Badass Box Thanks to a patented snap lock and the included lobe screw, it's now easier than ever. You don't even need any tools.

Functionality
After plugging in the Badass Box 4, it transmits a modified signal so that the preset 25 km/h speed limit can be exceeded. This happens without directly interfering with the motor electronics or software (contactless e-bike tuning).
Important note: Due to the special functionality of the Badass Box 4, your e-bike's display will no longer show the correct speed when the box is plugged in (=tuning active). This also applies to values derived from it.
We therefore recommend GPS-enabled additional devices such as smartphones or bike computers to show you your real speed while on the move.
Advantages over previous versions
Compared to previous versions, the Badass Box 4 has been optimized in many ways – here are the most important new features at a glance:
The housing of the Badass Box 4 has been completely redesigned, and the O-ring of the previous version has been replaced with a patented snap-on closure. This makes attaching and detaching the box easier and faster than ever before.
New battery: The CR2 battery has been replaced with a more powerful AAA battery. This only needs to be replaced approximately once a year or after approximately 1 km. Changing the battery is very easy, and suitable replacement batteries can be found practically everywhere. The long range of up to 7.000 km is made possible by the self-developed, patented FEET ("Field Enhancement & Elimination Technology") field enhancement technology.
The Badass Box 4 has a much slimmer design, so that tight installation situations are a thing of the past.
Upon customer request, an additional, optional fastening security using cable ties on the snap fastener is now possible.
Robust and resistant
So that the electronics of the Badass Box To ensure optimal protection against moisture and mechanical stress, it is glued into the housing using a special potting compound and completely sealed (the potting compound actually originates from the automotive industry). Before and after potting, each individual box is tested to ensure it functions correctly.
Badass Box 4 for TQ – Installation
Compared to other e-bike tuning tools, the Badass Box 4 can be easily installed and uninstalled. No need to open the engine.
In principle, the Badass Box It can only be attached to the e-bike's speed sensor. As soon as the snap lock clicks into place, you know the box is securely attached. Optionally, additional attachment with cable ties is possible.
Note for initial installation: During the very first installation, the spoke magnet screw should be replaced with the supplied flat head screw. This has the advantage that the spoke magnet can be moved in the future without any tools. After installing the Badass Box To access the sensor, the spoke magnet must be moved towards the edge of the housing in the direction of the snap lock. Badass Box touches, it must be placed as close as possible to the box and rotated 90 degrees. This completes the installation and the Badass Box active – your e-bike is tuned and you can get started!
If you want to cancel the tuning and return the bike to its original legal condition, you must Badass Box Simply pull it off and return the spoke magnet to its original position. Thanks to the included lobe screw, this can be done in just a few seconds.

Badass Box 4 for TQ – Compatibility
This e-bike tuning tool is compatible with all TQ mid-drive motors. Not compatible with Haibike Flyon e-bikes.
To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
