Badass Box 4 for Yamaha e-bike engines
Please note: The Badass Box 4 for Yamaha is only compatible with the sensor shown above, which is easily accessible on the chainstay.
If no sensor is visible on the chainstay, the sensor is integrated in the dropout - then, depending on the sensor, you need either the "Badass Box 4 Yamaha X-Set" or the "Badass Box 4 for Giant 2020".
The latest and best version of the Badass Box Specifically designed for e-bikes with Yamaha mid-engines. This tuning tool allows you to completely remove the 25 km/h motor support limit in no time. If necessary, the e-bike can be restored to its original state at any time.
Functionality
Once the box is installed and plugged in next to the speed sensor, it transmits a modified signal to the motor. This allows the preset speed limit to be exceeded. This means that (theoretically) unlimited speeds can be reached, with full motor support. The modified signal is transmitted contact-free and without an electrical connection to the motor, thus absolutely eliminating any damage to the drive.
Please note: Once the tuning has been activated (Badass Box plugged in), the e-bike display no longer shows the correct speed (this also applies to values derived from it). We therefore recommend using GPS-based additional devices to determine the actual speed, which are generally more accurate anyway (e.g., smartphone, bike computer).
The most sophisticated Badass Box any times
Compared to the previous versions, the new Badass Box 4 has been equipped with various improvements that have optimized this tuning tool in many ways: The housing of the box is now significantly slimmer, so that installation situations that are too tight can no longer occur. Thanks to a new, patented, snap lock, the Badass Box Now faster to put on and take off than ever before (the snap lock replaces the previously used O-ring). In addition, at the customer's specific request, an additional optional fastening system via cable ties has been added to the snap lock.
Another significant improvement is in terms of range: The previous CR2 battery has been replaced with an AAA battery, which, thanks to the specially developed and patented FEET field enhancement technology ("Field Enhancement & Elimination Technology"), has a range of over 7.000 kilometers or 1 year (due to battery discharge). Of course, the battery can be easily replaced at any time, without any tools. Suitable AAA batteries can be purchased practically anywhere.
In addition, the electronics of the box are glued and sealed into the housing with a special potting compound, thus ensuring the best possible protection against mechanical stress and moisture. Incidentally, each Badass Box tested for correct functionality before and after casting as part of the manufacturing process.

Badass Box 4 for Yamaha – Installation
Since during assembly of the Badass Box 4 for Yamaha the engine does not have to be opened, the installation of this tuning tool is easy. Badass Box 4 must be pulled over the Yamaha speed sensor next to the rear wheel. Snap the snap lock into place so that the box is securely aligned with the sensor. Optionally, you can additionally secure the box with a cable tie.
During initial installation, the original magnet must be replaced with the supplied spoke magnet. This spoke magnet works without the Badass Box Incidentally, it is the same as the original magnet, but it is necessary so that the patented field amplification technology can be used when the Badass Box can function properly. After the Badass Box has been placed on the sensor, you only have to move the spoke magnet to the edge of the housing in the direction of the snap lock.
To deactivate the tuning you have to Badass Box 4. Then simply return the spoke magnet to its original position, and the e-bike is back to its original state (limiting the motor support to 25 km/h).
Tip: Replace the spoke magnet screw with the included Toolfree screw, as it can be moved without any tools.

Tools
To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.

Shipping costs for Germany are €4,90; shipping is waived for orders over €180. For countries within the EU, shipping costs are €12,90; shipping is waived for orders over €2.000.
