MBIQ-CC E-Bike Tuning Universal for mid-engines, programmable
A universal tuning solution that is compatible with e-bike motors from different manufacturers, provided the motors are equipped with 2-wire speed sensors – e.g. with various Bosch, Shimano Steps, Brose Drive S and Panasonic drive systems (see below for exact compatibility). The microcontroller-based MBIQ-CC tuning kit completely removes the 25 km/h speed limit of e-bike drives, allowing you to finally enjoy the motor's full potential. This tuning tool does not offer any additional functions. The functionality of the MBIQ-CC is therefore limited to the absolute essentials—removing the speed limit.
Please note: When tuning is active, the e-bike display will no longer show correct values above approximately 25 km/h. The displayed speed will then always remain at ≤ 25 km/h.
Thanks to a push-in terminal connection, the tool's installation is extremely simple; no soldering or similar work is required. The tuning tool requires very little space and can therefore be installed in a space-saving manner.
The MIQ-CC is completely maintenance-free and does not require an additional power supply/battery.
Functionality
After installation, the MBIQ-CC analyzes the current speed profile and, if tuning is enabled, outputs manipulated values. Specifically, this means that speeds above 25 km/h are blocked for the engine firmware, completely removing the previously existing 25 km/h speed limit.
By the way: The engine software's evaluation is not affected by the manipulated values. There is no interference with the firmware.
Three operating modes:
With the MBIQ-CC Tuning Tool, you have the option of setting three different operating modes using specific, sequenced wheel movements:
- Tuning permanently activated (the limitation of the motor support is removed, from approx. 25 km/h the displayed speed no longer corresponds to the real speed).
- Tuning permanently deactivated (motor support only up to 25 km/h, the displayed speed corresponds to the real speed).
- Tuning activation based on power-on conditions: Here you can decide whether tuning should be active or not when turning on the e-bike. To activate tuning, the magnet must be in front of the sensor for approximately 3-4 seconds during startup. If this does not happen, tuning remains deactivated.
Simple installation
The installation of the MBIQ-CC is basically simple, as the tool only needs to be integrated into the sensor cable of the e-bike – this works very simply via a “push-in” terminal.
To explain: Every e-bike is equipped with a sensor to determine the speed, which is driven by a magnet Impulse per wheel revolution. The magnet is located either on a rear wheel spoke or on the brake disc.
Before beginning installation, the battery must first be removed. Then, access the sensor connector in the engine compartment and disconnect the connector from the control unit (in some cases, the left crank arm must be removed to access the engine compartment). The MBIQ-CC must then be inserted into the cable between the connector and the sensor using the push-in terminal. Please note that the sensor cable must be cut for this.
Note: If you want to restore the e-bike to its original condition at a later date, you can purchase the sensor as an original spare part.
You can find detailed installation and operating instructions “here".
MBIQ-CC E-Bike Tuning Universal for mid-engines, programmable – Compatibility
The MBIQ-CC is compatible with many common e-bike mid-engines with 2-wire speed sensors, e.g.:
- Bosch (e.g. Active / Performance / CX / also Gen4 model year 2020/2021). Not compatible with Bosch Smart System 2022 (BES3).
- Shimano Steps (e.g. E6xxx, E7xxx, E8xxx, EP8 / EP800,...)
- Panasonic (e.g. GX0 / Ultimate,...)
- Brose (e.g. drive-...)
- Bra (e.g. bra 1E)
Tools
Installing an e-bike tuning chip in your e-bike may require special tools . Please check beforehand whether you need to open the motor compartment to access the motor's connectors. This applies particularly to products in the categories of modules , kits , dongles , and sensors.
Normally (but not always), opening the motor compartment requires loosening the crankset. For this, you'll need a crank puller . Some motors also require a spider tool to open the lockring on the chainring – the chainring needs to be loosened to remove the motor cover and access the motor's interior. If you want to replace the chainring (due to wear or to change the gear ratio), you'll often need a spider tool as well . You can find the necessary special tool in our shop. Finally, removing the motor cover usually requires a Torx or Allen wrench. For installing the modules, appropriate pliers from the electronics sector are suitable.
If you don't opt for a tuning solution that requires installation in the engine compartment ( such as a tuning box or software ), you won't need the necessary tools. You'll find further tips in our guide .

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
