MBIQ-P Ebike Tuning Chip for Bosch Smart System BES3 mid-engines
The MBIQ-P is a microcontroller-based tuning chip for removing the 25 km/h speed limit of e-bikes with Bosch Smart Mid-engine system.
By unlocking the full potential of the Bosch Smart System motors can be used, which allows much faster driving with full motor support.
Since the MBIQ-P is a plug-in solution in the form of a very compact module or chip, installation is simple. The tool simply needs to be plugged in between the speed sensor and the motor controller. However, this requires access to the motor's connectors – this requires temporarily removing the motor cover (or sometimes even a crank).
The electronics of the MBIQ-P are encapsulated in the housing and thus safely protected against moisture (IPX4 according to EN 60529).
This tuning tool is programmable to a certain extent, allowing tuning to be activated or deactivated as needed. Furthermore, the maximum speed can be individually adjusted.
Note: When tuning is active, the e-bike display will be activated from approx. 22 km/h no real values. Instead, the speed display is "frozen" at higher values, so that the same value is always displayed (a "speed halving" as seen in some other tuning tools does not occur with the MBIQ-P).
The total mileage is also correspondingly lower for tuned journeys.
Tip: We recommend using GPS-enabled devices such as smartphones if you want to display the correct speed while on the move. brackets for the handlebars is available in our shop.
Our recommendation: An extension of the MBIQ-P tuning chip with particularly low susceptibility to errors is the MTT SmartChip V2!
Functionality
After installation, the MBIQ-P analyzes the current speed profile and forwards manipulated values. This allows the vehicle to exceed the factory-set 25 km/h speed limit.
The MBIQ-P does not directly intervene in the system; the evaluation of the engine software is not influenced by the manipulated values.
The MBIQ-P requires no own battery, power is supplied via the e-bike.
Three different operating modes
Programming is done by performing specific wheel movements when starting up the e-bike, with the spoke magnet passing the sensor. Programming is monitored via the e-bike display. Therefore, neither a PC nor a smartphone is required for programming.
When programming, three different operating modes can be set:
- Tuning permanently activated (Factory setting): Speed limit is lifted, no correct speed display from approx. 22 km/h.
- Tuning permanently deactivated: Motor support only up to 25 km/h, correct speed display.
- Tuning according to switch-on condition / Tuning switchable: Here you can use the magnet to determine whether the tuning should be on or off when booting up the e-bike (to activate the tuning, the magnet must be in front of the sensor for at least 4 seconds during boot-up, otherwise the tuning remains deactivated).
In addition, the maximum assisted speed can be individually set (also by making specific wheel movements when turning on the bike). More detailed information can be found in the manual.
When delivered, the MBIQ-P module is always in “Tuning permanently active” mode, with the highest support level.

This tuning tool is, to our knowledge, also compatible with the Bosch Smart System upgrade from April 2025 (sometimes referred to as version "15.10.1" or "15.13.1"). You can identify the upgrade by the following software versions: Drive Unit Performance Line CX: 15.24.2 / LED Remote: 15.12.3 / Kiox 300: 15.10.0 / PowerTube 750: 15.10.1
Important:
-Not compatible with e-bikes that have a magnet on the valve (rim magnet). In this case, you will need the RimBoost.
-Not compatible with Bosch e-bikes with ABS system.

Does your Bosch E-Bike charging cable have a square plug (as shown above), you have the correct Tuning module selected (if the bike does not have ABS and a rim magnet). If your Bosch e-bike does not have either of these connectors, you either do NOT have a Bosch e-bike, or you have an e-bike with the old Gen1 drive (Classic Line).

Tools
To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.

Shipping costs for Germany are €4,90; shipping is waived for orders over €180. For countries within the EU, shipping costs are €12,90; shipping is waived for orders over €2.000. We currently do not ship to countries outside the EU. We also do not ship to the USA, France, or Canada (including any overseas territories). We ask that you bear the costs of any return shipments yourself. Please note that customs duties may apply in countries outside the European Union.
