MBIQ-P for Brose / Specialized (Levo)
The MBIQ-P is a microcontroller-based tuning module for removing the 25 km/h speed limit of various Specialized E-bikes. The tool is a plug-in solution that must be inserted between the motor and the speed sensor. Unlocking the e-bikes enables significantly faster riding with full motor support.
The tuning can be switched on and off by making specific wheel movements when starting up the e-bike. The level of maximum motor support can also be adjusted. Neither a PC nor a smartphone is required to control the module.
When tuning is active, the e-bike display shows from approx. 22 km/h no correct speed no longer (manipulated values).
The MBIQ-P does not require its own battery as it is powered by the e-bike.
Furthermore, the module is completely maintenance-free. The electronics are securely encapsulated in the module housing, preventing moisture penetration (IPX4 according to EN 60529).
Programmable
With the MBIQ-P, tuning can be programmed to a certain extent, allowing it to be switched on and off as needed. Programming is done by performing specific wheel movements when starting up the e-bike, during which the spoke magnet is moved past the sensor.
The following modes can be set:
Mode 1: Tuning permanently activated (delivery state): The 25 km/h speed limit is completely removed. No correct speed display above approximately 20-22 km/h.
Mode 2: Tuning permanently deactivated: Speed limit of 25 km/h. The e-bike functions as if no tuning were installed (correct speed display).
Mode 3: Activation based on power-on condition: Here, you can decide whether tuning should be active or not when turning on the e-bike. To activate tuning, the magnet must be in front of the sensor for at least 4 seconds while the bike is booting up. This is also achieved by specific wheel movements.
The maximum supported speed (Vmax) can also be set in a similar way.
Note: Programming is not absolutely necessary, as the module is in “Tuning permanently activated” mode (with the highest level of support) when delivered.

Mounting
The MBIQ-P tuning module must be plugged between the existing sensor cable and the motor (integrated into the current path of the existing speed sensor). To access the connector, the motor cover must be temporarily removed. Often, a pedal crank must also be removed.
In most cases, the module can be stored in the connection area of the motor. It can also be installed in the frame tube, although this usually requires the motor to be removed from the frame.
After installation, the tuning module is not visible from the outside.
If necessary, the tuning can be removed and the e-bike can be restored to its original condition.

-Hot air dryer (for the shrink tubing)
Depending on the engine cover, a Torx or other Allen key may also be necessary.
If the crank needs to be removed, you will need a suitable crank puller.
Functionality
The MBIQ-P is a tuning module that operates on the principle of speed manipulation (no halving). It processes the current speed profile and passes on manipulated values, thus eliminating the 25 km/h speed limit. There is no direct interference with the system's communication.
MBIQ-P for Brose / Specialized (Levo) - Compatibility
This MBIQ-S Tuning Tool is compatible with various Specialized (Levo) Mid-engines – it should be noted that Specialized Drives on engines from the German manufacturer Brose based, but with its own Specialized software.

Tools
To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
