MBIQ-P for Shimano EP8 / EP800 / EP8-RS
With this ingenious tuning tool, you can not only remove the 25 km/h speed limit of Shimano EP8 e-bikes, you can even set the top speed individually.
The MBIQ-P is a practical plug-in solution that must be inserted between the speed sensor and the motor controller. The tuning tool is equipped with the same connectors as the existing sensor cable. Thanks to its compact design, the tool requires very little installation space. Of course, the MBIQ-P can be removed at any time if you want to restore the e-bike to its original condition.
Once connected, the MBIQ-P analyzes and processes the current speed profile. If tuning is active, manipulated values are output, thus removing the 25 km/h speed limit.
The MBIQ-P is microcontroller-based and can be programmed by the customer, without the need for a PC or smartphone. Programming is done using specific wheel movements when starting up the e-bike. This allows tuning to be switched on and off – or permanently activated if desired. Furthermore, there is now (for the first time with the MBIQ-P) the option to increase the maximum assistance level in several stages to a customized value.
This tuning tool is completely maintenance-free and requires no own battery!
Please note: When tuning is active, the speed display is "frozen" at speeds above approximately 23 km/h, so the displayed speed will not exceed 25 km/h – even if you're actually traveling significantly faster. Tip: Simply use GPS-enabled devices such as smartphones if you want to display your actual speed while on the go. You can find practical smartphone mounts for the handlebars in our shop.
Can be switched on and off
The MBIQ-P is user-programmable, allowing you to set various operating modes. This gives you the option to turn tuning on or off.
Programming is done using specific wheel movements when starting up the bike. Three different operating modes can be selected:
- Mode 1: Tuning permanently activated (25 km/h speed limit is lifted, from approx. 23 km/h the displayed speed is “frozen”).
- Mode 2: Tuning permanently deactivated (motor support as normal up to 25 km/h, correct speed display).
- Mode 3: Activation based on power-on condition. In this mode, you can determine whether tuning should be active or not by making specific movements of the spoke magnet when turning on the e-bike.
Installation
The MBIQ-P is a plug-in solution that must be inserted into the existing speed sensor cable. Compatible connectors, identical to those used in the existing sensor cable, ensure an optimal connection. Installation requires the motor's plastic cover to be briefly removed.

To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
