With this handy tuning tool, you can easily remove your e-bike's 25 km/h speed limit, allowing you to finally harness the full power of your pedelec. Riding an e-bike is truly fun without a speed limit!
The MBIQ-P's functionality is limited to the absolute essentials – namely the removal of the speed limit, and nothing else.
This tool is customer-programmable, allowing tuning to be turned on and off as needed. The MBIQ-P does not require its own battery.
Please note that the use of tuning tools is not permitted under the German Road Traffic Act.
Installation
A major advantage of this plug-in tuning tool is its extremely easy installation. The MBIQ-P simply needs to be inserted between the speed sensor and the engine control unit. For optimal connection, the tool is equipped with the same connectors as the existing sensor cable.
The installation is so simple and straightforward because this MBIQ-P version was specially developed for AEG / Bafang e-bikes with 3-pin Hall speed sensors (see photo). This means that the cable end is screwed directly to the sensor itself.
Functionality
The MBIQ-P is microcontroller-based. After installation, the tool analyzes and processes the current speed profile and, if tuning is enabled, forwards manipulated values. Speeds above 25 km/h are blocked for the motor firmware. This circumvents and overrides the preset speed limit.
As a result of this operating principle, the e-bike display - with active tuning - will no longer show correct values at speeds above 22 km/h (depending on the model, the speed is "frozen" at approx. 23 km/h).
Note: The evaluation of the engine software is not affected by the manipulated values.
Three operating modes
The MBIQ-P is customer-programmable. You can activate three different operating modes by making specific wheel movements when booting up the bike (no PC or smartphone required). This allows you to turn the tuning on and off as needed.
- Tuning permanently activated (delivery status / speed limit is permanently removed, from approx. 23 km/h no correct speed display on the display).
- Tuning permanently deactivated (speed limit is not lifted, motor support is normal up to 25 km/h, display shows real speed).
- Tuning activation after power-on condition (tuning is activated by keeping the magnet in front of the sensor for at least 4 seconds during power-up, otherwise tuning is deactivated).

To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
