MBIQ-S Ebike Tuning for ANANDA mid-engines
A microcontroller-based tuning tool for e-bikes with ANANDA mid-drive motors that completely removes the 25 km/h speed limit. The tool comes as a ready-to-use Sensor solution, which simply replaces the existing speed sensor. As a result, you can ride much faster than before with full motor support.
The tuning can be activated/deactivated (programmed) by making specific wheel movements when starting up the e-bike. Neither a PC nor a smartphone is required to control the tuning.
In addition, the MBIQ-S is completely maintenance-free and does not require its own battery.
Thanks to the compactly integrated electronics, tuning the MBIQ-S takes place in the smallest possible space. Since a sensor similar to the original sensor is used, there are virtually no visual changes to the e-bike.
The electronics of the MBIQ-S are encapsulated in the housing and thus protected from moisture.
Functionality
Once connected, the MBIQ-S will analyze and process the current speed profile, and—if tuning is active—output manipulated values. This allows the preset 25 km/h speed limit to be exceeded, allowing for much faster driving with full motor support.
Important note: Due to this special operating principle, the speed display is "frozen" at approximately 25 km/h when driving at speeds greater than 20 km/h (depending on the model). The same value is then always displayed at higher speeds. The total mileage for this range will also be lower.
A speed halving, as is known from some other tuning tools, takes place with the MBIQ-S not instead.
Customer-programmable
The MBIQ-S offers three operating modes, allowing tuning to be switched on and off as needed. Programming is performed when the e-bike is switched on by moving the wheel in specific directions, which move the magnet along the sensor. The selected operating mode is indicated by different speed values on the display. The following operating modes are available:
- Tuning permanently activated (the speed limit is permanently removed, from approx. 25 km/h the displayed speed is “frozen”).
- Tuning permanently deactivated (the speed limit is not removed, motor support up to 25 km/h with real speed display).
- Activation based on power-on condition: To activate tuning, the magnet must be in front of the sensor for at least 4 seconds during boot-up; otherwise, tuning is deactivated. This allows you to spontaneously decide whether tuning should be active or not upon power-up.
The operating instructions explain exactly how to set the different operating modes.
In a similar way, you can also set the limit up to which speed the motor should provide support (setting the maximum support speed).
Mounting
This tuning tool is a replacement sensor: This means that the existing original sensor on the e-bike must be replaced with the MBIQ-S. Since the tuning tool is equipped with identical connectors, an optimal connection is ensured.
You will find the original sensor on the rear frame, where it works in conjunction with the magnet attached to the rear wheel.
Tip: When pulling out the original sensor, pull through a suitable pull wire along which you can thread the tuning tool.
Note: On some models, the magnet is also positioned at the height of the quick-release axle. If this is the case, you'll need to remove the rear wheel to install the tuning.
So, a little technical skill is required here. You can find more detailed installation information in the installation instructions.
You can simply keep the original sensor if you ever want to restore your e-bike to its original condition.

Tools
To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
