MBIQ-S tuning sensor for Bosch e-bikes
Here we have a simple yet efficient tuning tool for e-bikes with Bosch mid-drive motors. The MBIQ-S is a microcontroller-based sensor solution that completely removes the speed limit of Bosch drives. It has no other functions. A major advantage is its very easy installation, as you simply replace the original sensor with the MBIQ-S.
The MBIQ-S Tuning Tool does not require a separate battery.
Functionality
After connecting the MBIQ-S, the tool will analyze the current speed profile and, if tuning is active, output manipulated values to the motor firmware. Speeds above 25 km/h are blocked for the motor firmware, thus completely removing the 25 km/h speed limit for Bosch e-bike motors. Please note: As a result of this operating principle, the speedometer will no longer display the correct speed (with tuning active, the displayed speed always remains ≤ 25 km/h).
Note: The evaluation of the engine software is not affected by the manipulated values.
Three operating modes:
The MBIQ-S Tuning Tool offers the possibility to program three different operating modes using certain sequential wheel movements:
- Tuning permanently activated (no limitation of motor support, from approx. 25 km/h the displayed speed no longer corresponds to the real speed).
- Tuning permanently deactivated (motor support up to 25 km/h, real speed is displayed).
- Tuning activation after power-on condition: To activate tuning, the magnet must be in front of the sensor for approximately 3-4 seconds during boot-up, otherwise tuning is deactivated.
Simple installation
To install, simply replace the original sensor on the rear frame with the MBIQ-S. Since the tool is equipped with original connectors, an optimal connection is ensured.
Please note: Since the connector end is plugged into the engine compartment, in most cases the left crank arm must be removed. This requires special tools. In some cases, it may also be necessary to remove the plastic cover of the engine.
Thanks to the neutral look, the appearance of your e-bike will not be changed by installing the tuning tool.
Tip: We recommend keeping the original sensor in case you want to restore your Bosch e-bike to its original condition at some point.
Robust & resistant to moisture
Since the electronics of the MBIQ-S are encapsulated in the sensor, the tool is resistant to water and dirt.
MBIQ-S Tuning Sensor – Compatibility
The following Bosch drive systems: Active Line, Active Line Plus, Performance Line, Performance Line CX, also Bosch Gen4 (model year 2020/2021). Compatible with all common motor firmwares.
Not compatible with Bosch Smart System 2022 (BES3).
Tip: Bosch Smart System E-Bikes (BES3) can be easily identified by the plug on the charging cable.

Does your Bosch e-bike have a round plug (as shown here), you have the correct Tuning module selected. If your Bosch e-bike does not have either of these plugs, you either do NOT have a Bosch e-bike, or you have an e-bike with the old Gen1 drive (Classic Line).

Tools
To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.

Delivery takes 1-3 business days within Germany. In exceptional cases, it can take up to 8 business days. Delivery times outside Germany may take longer. Please understand that due to high demand, some products may experience longer delivery times.

Shipping:
Shipping costs for Germany are €4,90; shipping is waived for orders over €180. For countries within the EU, shipping costs are €12,90; shipping is waived for orders over €2.000. We currently do not ship to countries outside the EU. We also do not ship to the USA, France, or Canada (including any overseas territories). We ask that you bear the costs of any return shipments yourself. Please note that customs duties may apply in countries outside the European Union.
Minimum order value:
The minimum order value is €25. Only above this amount are advance payment, PayPal, and bank transfer available as payment methods.
Maximum order value:
The maximum order value for orders outside the EU is €1.000. The maximum order value within the EU is €12.500.
Payment in advance via bank transfer:
Please transfer the total amount, including your order number, to our account, which was communicated to you in the confirmation email. Please note that transfers within Germany can take up to three business days. Transfers from abroad, especially from Austria, usually reach us very quickly. Transfers from other countries can take slightly longer on average.

At the end of the ordering process, you will be redirected to the PayPal page. There you can initiate your payment. Once the PayPal transaction is complete, your order status will change in the shop. The goods will then be shipped as soon as possible.
