Mountain Tuning Tool (MTT)
With the Mountain Tuning Tool (MTT) allows E-MTBs with Rocky Mountain Powerplay Optimize your drive in a variety of ways. Not only can you massively increase the maximum motor support, but you can also significantly increase the system's performance. No other e-bike tuning tool offers such extensive optimization options. Another advantage of the MTT is that it's an ideal complement to the Powerplay Controller (iWoc) – you can use the MTT as a display to show you the current speed and other data on the go (the Powerplay control element does not have a real display). As you can see, the MTT is for drivers of Rocky Mountain Altitude Powerplay E-MTBs are absolutely indispensable.
Attention: This tuning product is not compatible with the new Rocky Mountain Powerplay Engine 2022 (Dyname 4.0). A corresponding product from MTT module you will find there.
Mountain Tuning Tool – All features at a glance:
- 25 km/h speed limit is lifted.
- Individual adjustment of the level of motor support.
- Increased current from 20 to 21 to 22 amps – this means about 10 percent more power! The tuning tool increases the peak power transmitted from the motor controller to the motor from 960W to 1056W at 22 amps. The increase in energy supply from the battery, by the way, represents a significant improvement for the Powerplay System does not pose any problem, as both the battery and the motor are already so well designed for short charging times and better heat balance under high load that the additional energy is easily handled.
- Adjust the wheel circumference to the millimeter.
- Additional suitability as an e-bike display.
- Values on the MTT's "ride screen": current (correct) speed, battery charge level, support level.
- Optional display in km/h or mph.
The new update of MTT (September 2018) contains the following new features:
- 50 percent more motor support (torque) for even stronger acceleration.
- Calibration via MTT
- Automatic shutdown after 10 minutes of inactivity.
- There is now a temperature display in the top left corner of the display.
As simple as that MountainTuning Tool (MTT) in the application:
To use the MTT you simply need to connect the tool to your Rocky Mountain Powerplay Connect the e-bike – simply unplug the iWoc and replace it with the MTT plug. You can now make the desired adjustments using the MTT's control buttons and display. Once you've done that, you can simply remove the MTT or leave it on the e-bike if you also want to use the tool as a display. Since the settings are saved, the MTT doesn't need to remain on the e-bike. Of course, you can reconnect the MTT at any time if you want to change the values or restore your e-MTB's original configuration.
Important note: Each MTT is limited to 1 Rocky Mountain E-bike limited. Once you've paired your MTT with your e-bike, it remains "married" to it and can no longer be used on any other e-bike.
Mountain Tuning Tool (MTT) – User Manual
- First, disconnect the iWoc connector (not on the iWoc, but on the head tube) and replace it with the MTT connector.
- Turn on your Rocky Mountain Powerplay E-bike using the MTT power button.
Overall, the MTT can be divided into three different screens: The “Base screen", dem "Driving screen" and the "System screen".
Base screen
The basic screen provides an overview of various important values such as:
Speed / Battery charge / Support level / Total mileage…
Driving screen
While riding, the base screen automatically switches to the practical ride screen. The current speed is now displayed extra large. The battery charge bar and the selected support level remain visible. As you can see, the MTT essentially performs all the relevant functions familiar from e-bike displays from other manufacturers.
Our advice: The brightness of the display can be adjusted by pressing the SET button several times.
System screen
To access the system screen, press and hold the MTT's up and down buttons simultaneously for about 5 seconds and then release. The system screen will now appear, where you can change various values using the MTT's buttons:
A) Setting the maximum motor support.
B) Increase the amperage from 20 to 21 up to 22 A.
C) Adjustment of the wheel circumference to the millimeter.
D) Switch between km/h and mph.
E) Adjust and calibrate the torque sensor.
Important: After setting the values, they must be saved. To do this, navigate to "Save" and press the "SET" button. Now the MTT must be restarted: To do this, press the up and down buttons simultaneously for about 5 seconds and then release them. The MTT will now restart, and "Reconnecting" will appear on the screen.
Please keep in mind: Once you have tested the MTT with a Rocky Mountain Powerplay E-bike, you can no longer use it on any other E-bike.

Tools
To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
