MTT SpecB Mountain Tuning: Sensor for Specialized
This practical tuning sensor lifts the 25 km/h speed limit of numerous Specialized / Brose E-MTB engines completely, e.g. from models from series such as Levo, Kenevo, Como, Tero, and Vado. You can finally utilize the full potential of your drive system, and the annoying speed limit is a thing of the past. Of course, your e-bike can be restored to its original condition at any time if you want to use it legally on public roads again.
The MTT offers three different operating modes, allowing tuning to be switched on and off. There's even the option to individually adjust the level and limit of the assist speed. This is done by making specific wheel movements when accelerating the e-bike; neither a PC nor a smartphone is required.
When tuning is active, the e-bike display will no longer show the correct speed at speeds above 25 km/h. Our tip: To still see your actual speed while on the go, you can simply use GPS-enabled devices like your smartphone. It's best to attach your phone directly to the handlebars so you always have the data clearly visible. brackets is available directly in our shop.
The MTT SpecB does not require its own power supply, so an extra battery is not needed.
Made in Germany.
Three different operating modes
With the MTT, you can select three different operating modes by making specific wheel movements when starting up your e-bike (the spoke magnet moves past the MTT sensor). This allows you to turn the tuning on and off as needed. Programming an operating mode is optional, however, and by no means mandatory. Upon delivery, the MTT is always in "tuning permanently active" mode after installation, with the highest assist speed limit.
The following operating modes are available:
- Tuning permanently activated (Factory setting): The speed limit is removed, and the correct speed display is only up to 25 km/h. At speeds ≤25 km/h, the MTT generates manipulated values for the engine software.
- Permanent tuning disabled: The speed limit is not lifted (motor assistance up to 25 km/h). The correct speed is displayed on the screen.
- Tuning according to switch-on condition: Here you can spontaneously decide whether tuning should be activated or not when turning on the bike. To activate tuning, the magnet must be in front of the sensor for at least 4 seconds when turning on the e-bike (sensor active); otherwise, tuning remains deactivated.
You even have the option to individually adjust the maximum assistance speed by moving the bike when turning on the bike. To do this, you have to move the bike and move the sensor past the magnet.
Functionality
The operating principle of the MTT SpecB is based on a fixed division of the actual speed pulses by a factor of 2 or 3 (however, only at speeds above walking pace, so as not to interfere with any WALK mode). This circumvents or cancels the preset 25 km/h speed limit.
Due to this operating principle, the e-bike display will no longer show the correct speed at speeds above 25 km/h. The total mileage will also no longer reflect the actual distance traveled.
Installation
The Specialized E-bikes are equipped with a sensor to determine the current speed (for this purpose, the sensor receives Impulse from a magnet on the brake disc). To install the tuning tool, you need to replace the original sensor with the MTT sensor. This requires a few small adjustments:
First, you'll need to remove the cover on the motor to access the connectors (disconnect the speed sensor cable). The connection is made using compatible connectors.
You'll find the original sensor on the rear frame, possibly next to the thru axle. The sensor end is mounted in a bracket, which you'll need to unscrew to remove.
Remove the sensor from the mount. Insert the MTT sensor instead and reinstall the mount. If threading the new sensor cable proves difficult, you can thread a pull wire through it while pulling out the cable. Once everything is done, you can replace the housing cover.
MTT SpecB: Mountain Tuning for Specialized - Compatibility
The tuning sensor for Specialized E-mountain bikes are compatible with many Specialized (Brose) E-MTB engines like Levo, Kenevo, Como, Tero, Vado. For example, with the new Specialized 2.2 Motors. Here you can find the exact compatibility list:

Tools
To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
