Polini for Yamaha Powerdrive Engines
The Polini Hi-Speed is a tuning module for e-bikes with Yamaha PW motors. This tool releases the maximum motor assistance from 25 km/h. The great thing about this tool is that it can be easily activated/deactivated by attaching or removing a magnet on the outside of the motor.
Installing the module inside the engine protection housing is very easy, as its connectors fit directly onto the original plugs. The actual installation process is completed in just a few minutes. No adjustments are required; the Polini Hi-Speed module is self-regulating. Thanks to its self-powered design, the module even operates without its own battery.
Of course, the module can be removed at any time and the e-bike can be returned to its original condition.
Important note: When the Polini Hi-Speed Tuning Tool is activated, the e-bike display will only show half of the actual speed and mileage. To determine the actual speed, simply double the displayed value.
Polini installation instructions for Yamaha PW engines:
First, place the Polini module and the black sensor on the double-sided tape and trim the edges to size. Apply the resulting double-sided tape to the tuning module and the sensor.
Remove the plastic housing of the Yamaha PW engine.
Completely unscrew and remove screw A. Screw B only needs to be loosened, not removed.
Position the Polini module inside the plastic housing using the double-sided adhesive tape as shown in photo 6.
Use the double-sided tape to attach the black sensor to the opposite side of the plastic housing.
Disconnect the wheel sensor connector and plug in the Polini module connector. Position the wiring as neatly as possible and reconnect everything.
To activate the Polini tuning module, simply place the included magnet on the black sensor. To deactivate the tuning, simply remove the magnet.
Please note:
-When the dashboard is on and the magnet is on the sensor, a speed between 9 and 12 km/h is displayed for a short time when the tuning is activated. Activation and deactivation also work without turning the Yamaha e-bike on and off.
-Due to limitations of the installed gears, some e-bikes may not be able to reach the maximum speed of 50 km/h.

To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
