Finally, the popular BikeTrax GPS tracker is also available for e-bikes with Brose Drive. After installing the GPS tracker, you can use a smartphone app to determine at any time whether your e-bike is being moved without authorization and where exactly it is. In the event of a theft, you will immediately receive an alert on your smartphone. Thanks to this system, a stolen e-bike can be located and recovered at any time.

How it works

The operating principle of PowUnity BikeTrax is basically simple but highly effective:

The BikeTrax GPS tracker, including the integrated SIM card, must be installed invisibly from the outside in the engine housing and attached to the Brose Drive. You can also do this yourself at home (all necessary connection cables are included). Once this is done, the GPS tracker will be integrated into the European data network via the SIM card.

Then all you have to do is download the free Powunity app. Register and pair your smartphone with your e-bike using the app. The app will now show you exactly where your Brose Where your e-bike is and whether it's being moved – accurate to within 5 meters and in real time. If your e-bike is moved without authorization, the app immediately sounds an alarm.

You can now always locate your smartphone precisely, even if it's moved. This system has another advantage: The days of leaving your beloved bike somewhere in the city and then not being able to find it are finally over!

Energy supply

The BikeTrax GPS tracker is powered by the e-bike's battery. If a thief removes the battery, the tracker continues to receive power via an integrated backup battery – in standby mode (i.e., the bike is not moving) for up to three weeks. If the bike is moving (i.e., active tracking), the backup battery lasts for 3 hours. As soon as the battery is reconnected, it automatically recharges.

Where does BikeTrax work and what are the costs for data transfer?

The GPS tracker transmits throughout the EU, but also in Norway, Switzerland, Iceland and Liechtenstein.

PowUnity covers the data transfer costs for the first year of use. After that, a fee of €3,95 per month applies. There's no commitment, though, and you can conveniently book the service on a monthly basis via the PowUnity app—for example, if you only want to use BikeTrax in the summer, etc.

The GPS coordinates are transmitted via GPRS and GSM.

Route diary & PowUnity web platform

A practical additional feature of the BikeTrax system is the route log, which stores traveled routes by day, including average and maximum speed (exported as a GPX file). You can use the PowUnity web platform to view the location of your bike or routes you've ridden on your PC or laptop.

Since the user profile (i.e., username and password) can be used on any number of smartphones, you can give relatives and friends the opportunity to see where you are. They can then also receive a theft alarm and respond immediately.

Brand new: E-bike profile & theft report

As part of a major update in spring 2020, the PowUnity app was enhanced with some very practical features. You now have the option of creating your own e-bike profile within the app. Here you can enter all relevant data about your personal bike (including purchase details and bike-related data such as type and frame number) – one of the advantages of this is that you don't have to laboriously gather this police-relevant information in the event of a theft. In the event of a theft, you can immediately forward the data to the police as a printout or as a PDF. In addition to the aforementioned data, the location where the bike was stolen and the current position are also provided. If the police are able to recover the e-bike using the transmitted data, the profile can also be used to clearly prove that the recovered bike is actually your own vehicle.

Also new is the option to delete entire routes or specific sections of the route in the app. This makes the PowUnity Biketrax system's range of functions more comprehensive than ever before.
