RedPed P for Shimano EP8 / EP800 (without Di2)
The RedPed P is a tuning module whose settings can be conveniently controlled via the EBT app. This not only removes the 25 km/h speed limit, but also allows you to set the maximum motor support to a custom value, from 15-45 km/h. The connection between RedPed P module and smartphone are connected wirelessly via Bluetooth.
The tuning can be turned on and off via the app. If you want the tuning to always be active after turning on the e-bike, you can also set this via the app.
The RedPed P module works not only with older Shimano Steps drives (see below for exact compatibility), but also with the new Shimano EP8 / EP800 motors – however not on models with Di2 gears. The light connection must not be activated (except for E6000 engines).

RedPed P – Functions & Features at a Glance
- Repeal of the 25 km/h speed limit.
- Set the maximum speed to a self-selected value of 15-45 km/h (the actual achievable maximum speed depends on the chainring).
- Correct speed and distance traveled are displayed in the EBT app.
- Tuning can be activated via the EBT app.
- “Tuning Activation”: Here you can set whether the tuning should always be active or only for one ride (i.e. until the e-bike is switched off).
- “Split speed at”: Set how the speed should be split (10-24 km/h).
- Enter wheel diameter (in inches).
- “Set Visibility”: Here you can set how long the RedPed should be visible in the app after the e-bike has been switched on. This allows you to prevent unauthorized access by third parties.
- Set individual PIN.
- Set individual module names.
- The module does not require its own battery.
RedPed P - Data display via app
With the EBT app, you can not only set the tuning settings, but also display numerous useful data – for example:
- Current speed in km/h
- Maximum speed in km/h
- Average in km/h (average speed)
- Travel time in minutes
- Distance in km (currently traveled distance)
- Mileage in km
- Module name, connection status, tuning status, etc.
You can customize the display to your personal preferences, for example, by changing the color of certain values or hiding them. On Android, you can change the font size on the main screen, and on iPhones, you can zoom in on the speedometer.
Installation and functionality
At the RedPed P is a module that must be connected between the speed sensor and the motor (display connection). RedPed P is powered via a free display connection on the e-bike and is always on (no separate battery is required). Once connected, the RedPed P module detects the current speed and generates its own speed signal for the motor control unit. This circumvents the 25 km/h speed limit by generating a lower speed. The assistance limit is thus removed (if tuning is active), and you can ride faster than before with full motor support.
Please note: Due to this functionality, the motor control unit will incorrectly calculate certain values, such as the mileage. This means the e-bike display will no longer display these values correctly. However, you can display the correct values using the EBT app. Therefore, our tip: Attach your phone to the handlebars with a special smartphone mount so you always have all the relevant data at a glance (correct speed, kilometers traveled, etc.). RedPed P – Compatibility
The RedPed P is available in two different versions, one for the “older” Shimano e-bike motors, and one for the new Shimano EP8 motor.
RedPed P for EP8 / EP800
Compatible with Shimano Steps EP8 / EP800 e-bike drives. No Di2 shifting, one display socket must be free. The light connection must not be activated, except for E6000 engines.
Important: Only compatible with EP-8(00) - Not compatible with EP-801!
Important note: If you have a Shimano EP-8 / EP800 e-bike with activated light connection, we recommend the RedPed L Tuning module. The RedPed L is also compatible with Di2 circuits.

Tools
To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.

Delivery takes 1-3 business days within Germany. In exceptional cases, it can take up to 8 business days. Delivery times outside Germany may take longer. Please understand that due to high demand, some products may experience longer delivery times.

Shipping costs for Germany are €4,90; shipping is waived for orders over €180. For countries within the EU, shipping costs are €12,90; shipping is waived for orders over €2.000. We currently do not ship to countries outside the EU. We also do not ship to the USA, France, or Canada (including any overseas territories). We ask that you bear the costs of any return shipments yourself. Please note that customs duties may apply in countries outside the European Union.
