PearTune 4.0 for Panasonic FIT 2.0

A tuning chip specifically for Panasonic e-bikes with the integrated FIT system. Its core function is to remove the 25 km/h speed limit, but the chip offers significantly more optimization options. For example, the maximum assisted speed can be set to a custom value; and a personal activation code can be set for activation/deactivation. In addition, you benefit from a correct km/h display, even with active tuning. The chip is controlled entirely via the control buttons on the e-bike; neither a PC nor a smartphone is required.

Since the PearTune 4.0 is a module or chip that is installed in the engine compartment with waterproof connectors, so no additional battery is required.

PearTune 4.0 for Panasonic FIT 2.0 – Features at a glance

-Removal of the 25 km/h speed limit.

-Correct values in the display, even when tuning is active (current tempo).

-Set maximum speed: The maximum assisted speed can be set to a custom value by pressing the + and - buttons. After 10 seconds of inactivity, the last selected maximum speed is automatically saved.

Chip activation: By default, tuning can be turned on and off at any time by pressing the light button twice. For confirmation, the display will briefly show the values 9.9 or 9.0 / 2.0 or 2.5 after activation/deactivation.

-Setting an individual code for chip activation: Selection of the buttons with which you want to activate/deactivate the tuning.

-Chip lock: When the chip lock is activated, the tuning can no longer be activated with any key. The tuning becomes virtually "invisible," preventing unauthorized access.

-Chip status when switching on the bike: With this function you can specify whether the tuning chip should be automatically ON or OFF when the e-bike is switched on.

-Addition of the correct number of kilometers driven: When driving with the tuning chip activated, the distance traveled no longer matches the actual distance driven. However, you can correct the correct mileage, and you can specify the calculation method yourself, e.g., by tracking while driving and while stationary, or only when stopped, etc.

-Chip reset: If you want to install the tuning chip in another e-bike or replace the speed sensor, you should perform a chip reset. This can either retain the chip settings or reset the chip to factory settings.

-Chip software version information: The current software version of the chip can be displayed on the display.

See this figure:

If this information is NOT displayed on your e-bike, you must use the "normal" PearTune 4.0 for Panasonic E-bikes (without the FIT system). Distinguish between e-bikes with FIT 1.0 and FIT 2.0 systems

You can usually find out whether your e-bike is equipped with a FIT system in the manual or technical documentation for your e-bike. However, if you want to tune such an e-bike, you need to know exactly which FIT system your e-bike is equipped with.

With the FIT system, a distinction must currently be made between the “older” FIT 1.0 system, which was manufactured from 2015 to 2021/2022, and the “newer” FIT 2.0 system, which will be in use from the 2022/2023 model year.

Here we show you how to distinguish between FIT 1.0 and FIT 2.0 systems:

  1. Distinguishing criterion: The model year

-If your e-bike with FIT system is from the model years 2015-2021, it is definitely a FIT 1.0 e-bike (FIT 2.0 did not even exist yet).

-Starting with the 2023 model year, (almost) exclusively the FIT 2.0 system will be installed. This means: If you have a bike from 2023 onwards, it is almost certainly a FIT 2.0 system. If your e-bike is from 2024, it is definitely a FIT 2.0 e-bike.

-But beware: In the 2022 model year, and partly still in the 2023 model year, the e-bikes could be equipped with both the old FIT 1.0 system and the new FIT 2.0 system.

In this case, FIT 1.0 and FIT 2.0 can still be distinguished by their displays.

  1. Distinguishing criterion: The display

The general rule:

-If the display of your e-bike is equipped with control buttons (usually only 1 button), then it is a FIT 1.0 system.

-If the display has NO control buttons but a touch screen, it is a FIT 2.0 system.

-If the FIT logo appears on the display when starting the system, it is also FIT 2.0 (Note: In rare cases this also happens with FIT 1.0).

Here we show you which display types are most common in FIT systems.

Fit 1.0

-For bikes with FLYER D0/T5 Display it is always FIT 1.0.

-For bikes with FIT Center Display D1 It is FIT 1.0.

FIT 2.0

-For bikes with FIT Display Compact It is FIT 2.0.

-For bikes with FIT Display Comfort It is FIT 2.0.

On the FIT E-Bike System Integration website you can check which display you have "here"The product descriptions for the displays also state whether it is a FIT 1.0 or FIT 2.0 display. This way, you can find out for sure whether you have an e-bike with a FIT 1.0 or FIT 2.0 system.

To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor

Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank pullerSome engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.

Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters

We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.

Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
