PearTune MSO 4.0 for Specialized 1.1 / 1.2 SL e-bikes
The PearTune Tuning module in a version specifically for Specialized SL 1.1 & 1.2 SL e-bikes. The core function is the removal of the 25 km/h speed limit, allowing you to ride significantly faster with full motor support (“MSO” = “Max Speed Off”). However, the PearTune MSO 4.0 offers a number of additional options that significantly expand the functionality of this tuning tool. For example, for the first time, there's the option to individually set the maximum speed. Another new feature that can be very useful if necessary is the so-called "chip lock." By activating the chip lock, outsiders can no longer detect that a tuning tool has been installed – i.e., the tuning can temporarily no longer be activated, and the e-bike and display function normally. Re-unlocking is only possible with a specific key combination.
Another advantage of PearTune A key feature of MSO 4.0 is that even when tuning is active, the correct speed is shown on the display (no halved values). Tuning can be turned on and off at any time while on the go.
At the PearTune MSO is a module or chip that must be connected between the motor and the display, as well as between the motor and the magnetic speed sensor. This is done using original connectors. Thanks to the "plug & play" principle, the module does not require any complicated configuration.
PearTune MSO 4.0 for Specialized 1.1 / 1.2 SL – Functions at a glance
- Unlocking: The 25 km/h speed limit will be completely lifted.
- Maximum speed can be individually adjusted: The maximum supported speed can be individually adjusted using the + and - buttons, conveniently in 1 km/h increments.
- Correct speed display in the e-bike display, even when the tuning module is activated.
- Chip lock (“Lock the Chip” feature): If the chip lock is activated via the bike's control buttons, the tuning chip is locked by software, making the tuning virtually invisible. This means that outsiders can no longer detect that a tuning chip has been installed. In this case, the e-bike and display function normally, and the tuning can temporarily no longer be activated. The chip lock can only be deactivated/unlocked using a specific key combination. The tuning then functions normally again.
- Chip activation: The tuning chip can be turned on or off at any time by briefly pressing the WALK button or by quickly pressing the + and – buttons twice. A short confirmation message appears on the display when tuning is activated or deactivated.
- Switching between Normal and Still On version possible. For e-bikes without the control buttons required to switch on or off, you can switch from the NORMAL to the STILL ON variant - in this case, the tuning is always activated as soon as you switch on the e-bike.
- Tuning status when switching on: You can set whether the tuning should be automatically ON or OFF after switching on the e-bike.
- Chip Reset: If you want to connect the tuning chip to another e-bike or replace the speed sensor, you can perform a chip reset. You can restore the factory settings or keep the chip settings.
- Addition of the correct kilometers driven: When tuning is activated, the actual distance traveled is no longer displayed while driving. Now you can configure how the missing kilometers should be recalculated or added—for example, only when stopping, or as a supplement while driving and when stopping, etc.
- PearTune MSO 4.0 does not require its own battery (power is supplied via the display connector).
- Plug & Play: Easy installation thanks to the use of original connectors.
- Lightweight and compact: The module weighs just 12g. Because it's so small, it's easy to install.

Tools
To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
