RimBoost V2.38 Chip – Installation
Even though only a few steps are ultimately required for installation, the installation is not easy It requires technical skill and some time. Please consider carefully before ordering whether you are truly confident in your ability to perform the installation.
Especially compared to today's prioritized solutions, the RimBoost V2.38 is therefore not a straightforward, standard product, but rather a Special technical solution for experienced users.
RimBoost is a tuning tool in the form of a chip. Besides two power cables, the chip has two additional wires: one with a new sensor at the end and the other with an electromagnet. The engine cover must be briefly removed for installation.
Remove the rim magnet and attach the spoke magnet: The original Bosch rim magnet must be removed to prevent it from transmitting signals to the original Bosch sensor. The Bosch rim magnet is replaced by the sensor on the RimBoost chip. This allows the included spoke magnet to transmit the speed reading to the sensor.
Attaching the electromagnet: The RimBoost sensor informs the RimBoost chip, which in turn forwards signals to the electromagnet. The electromagnet is attached to the motor cover with strong double-sided 3M adhesive tape – between the rear wheel and the Bosch sensor located in the motor compartment. The optimal position can be determined using an installation guide.
Our advice: The best way to attach the original Bosch rim magnet is to simply attach it to the front wheel. That way it can't get lost.
The RimBoost chip requires no battery of its own, as the energy supply is provided by the e-bike battery.
Functionality
After installation, the RimBoost chip's electromagnet sends a modified signal to the original Bosch sensor inside the engine compartment while driving. This removes the factory-installed 25 km/h speed limiter.
Important: Due to this operating principle, the display of the Bosch e-bike shows no correct values more. Speed, distance and other data therefore no longer correspond to the actual values.

Remove tuning: Restore original condition
The tuning can be reversed at any time. You can restore the original condition by removing the new spoke magnet and reattaching the original Bosch rim magnet. Afterwards, the motor support will again end at 25 km/h and the display will show accurate values again.

About the Bosch BDU38 (Gen5) engine
