SpeedBox 1.1 B.Tuning for Bosch Smart System
The latest version of the SpeedBox for Bosch Smart System E-Bikes has been optimized to be particularly resistant to Bosch tamper detection. It is therefore very unlikely that the pre-installed anti-tuning software of the Bosch Smart Systems in the SpeedBox 1.1. However, a maximum speed of 35 km/h should not be exceeded.
In contrast to the “normal” SpeedBox 1.1 Chip is this “B.Tuning” Variant also familiar with the SpeedBox App compatibleso that you can benefit from various practical additional functions (see below).
The SpeedBox 1.1 is a tuning chip that reduces the 25 km/h speed limit of Bosch Smart System e-bikes (also compatible with Bosch SX motors). This allows for much faster riding with full motor support.
Within the SpeedBox 1.1 B.Tuning even allows you to set the desired maximum speed to an individual value. However, you shouldn't set a speed above 35 km/h, as this could trigger the Bosch anti-tuning software! If you set a top speed above 35 km/h, you do so at your own risk.
Correct speed can be read via SpeedBox App
Within the SpeedBox 1.1 the e-bike display no no longer display correct driving data (e.g. the current speed).
With this B.Tuning variant you have the option to real data on the smartphone display via the SpeedBox App to display.
We therefore recommend simply attaching your smartphone to the handlebars. This way, you'll always have a clear view of your data. brackets can be found in our shop.
The total distance is shown in the e-bike display corrector shown, but only after the "countdown" (kilometer deduction) at the end of the journey.
Tuning can be switched on and off
After connecting the chip, the tuning can be easily switched on and off via the app.
Alternatively, tuning can be activated/deactivated by briefly pressing the WALK button (holding down the "-" button). A short message will appear on the e-bike display for confirmation: "3.5" = SpeedBox ON / “2.5” = SpeedBox OFF. Note: Switching on and off should not be carried out while driving.
For Bosch e-bikes where the WALK function is not available or not activated, the tuning can also be activated/deactivated using the key combination -+-+.
The manufacturer recommends leaving the e-bike switched on for a while after the end of the ride until the SpeedBox has finished the "countdown" (this is indicated by the continuation of the driving time on the display until it stops and the correct total distance is shown) in order to avoid possible tuning detection.
Set maximum speed
The maximum assistance speed can be easily set via the app.
Alternatively, the maximum assisted speed can be changed by switching the modes three steps down from TURBO mode and then three steps up: eMTB - TOUR+ - ECO - TOUR+ - eMTB - TURBO. The current speed limit will then be displayed. You can now adjust the maximum speed by briefly pressing the WALK button or by turning the rear wheel 360°. A displayed speed of 2.5 km/h corresponds to a maximum speed of 25 km/h, 3.0 km/h would correspond to 30 km/h, 3.5 km/h would then be 35 km/h, etc. The last displayed speed limit is automatically saved after 15 seconds of inactivity.
A maximum speed of 35 km/h should not be exceeded to avoid tuning detection by the Bosch system.
SpeedBox App
The SpeedBox 1.1 B.Tuning is available with the free SpeedBox App, which is specifically designed for the SpeedBox Tuning Chips. Thanks to the app, you benefit from various additional features, e.g. you can display numerous useful data, save completed trips and share them with friends, etc. The connection between smartphone and SpeedBox Chip is wireless via Bluetooth.

When you first launch the app, you'll be asked to set a PIN. This PIN must then be used every time you launch the app. After selecting the PIN, you'll also need to set a service password in case you ever forget your PIN (or want to change it).

For longer stops, you should at least run a partial "countdown" (kilometer deduction).
Do not remove the display from the e-bike until the countdown is complete (after a long ride, the countdown may take several minutes).
-Turning the tuning on and off should always be done before, and not during, the journey.
-The manufacturer recommends not exceeding a maximum speed of 35 km/h.
-The manufacturer recommends leaving the e-bike switched on for a while after the end of the ride until the display shows a constant speed of 0,0 km/h (during this phase the display shows the remaining time).
-If you install the chip in a brand new e-bike, you must first ride the e-bike for at least 10 km before activating the tuning chip for the first time.

ROUND plug = Bosch Gen2, Gen3 & Gen4:

Does your Bosch E-Bike charging cable have a square plug (as shown above), you have the correct Tuning module selected (if the bike does not have ABS and a rim magnet). If your Bosch e-bike does not have either of these connectors, you either do NOT have a Bosch e-bike, or you have an e-bike with the old Gen1 drive (Classic Line).

Tools
To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
