Features and benefits
- Lifting of the 25 km/h speed limit
- Controls directly on the e-bike without an app and without a smartphone
- Individually adjustable speed limit
- Activation and deactivation possible at any time
- No additional sensor positioning required
- Installation is inconspicuous from the outside.
- Can be removed without leaving any residuee.g. before workshop appointments
The speed limit is lifted. However, from a technical point of view, it is recommended not to exceed a speed of 35 km/h for extended periods.
Activation and deactivation directly on the bike
The SpeedBox 1.3 is controlled directly via the e-bike's controls. Activation and deactivation are conveniently done via the WALK functionby holding down the "-" button. If your bike does not have a WALK function, you can alternatively use the key combination - + - + should be used.
After activation, the display briefly shows 3.5 km/h . This indicates that the tuning is active. When deactivating, 2.5 km/h is briefly displayed. The e-bike then returns to its standard 25 km/h speed limit.
Activation or deactivation should generally only be carried out when stationary and not while driving.
Setting the maximum speed
The desired maximum speed can be set directly on the bike. To do this, switch between modes in the following order:
Turbo → eMTB → Tour+ → Eco → Tour+ → eMTB → Turbo
The display then shows the currently set speed limit. This can now be changed by briefly pressing the WALK button or by rotating the rear wheel 360°.
The display corresponds to the set value:
- 2.5 km/h = 25 km/h
- 3.0 km/h = 30 km/h
- 3.5 km/h = 35 km/h
After approximately 15 seconds without further input, the last selected setting is automatically saved.
Display behavior during operation
With active tuning, the display does not show correct live speed values . The correct total distance is adjusted after the drive using the system's typical countdown.
Therefore, it is important to leave the e-bike switched on after the ride until the display shows a constant 0,0 km/h and the calibration is complete.
Installation and installation
The SpeedBox 1.3 is connected directly to the motor and installed in the e-bike. Installation requires some basic technical understanding, but is easily manageable with the included instructions.
With older firmware versions, it may be necessary to enter the wheel circumference of the e-bike in the menu after installation so that all functions are activated correctly.

Tools
Installing an e-bike tuning chip in your e-bike may require special tools . Please check beforehand whether you need to open the motor compartment to access the motor's connectors. This applies particularly to products in the categories of modules , kits , dongles , and sensors.
Normally (but not always), opening the motor compartment requires loosening the crankset. For this, you'll need a crank puller . Some motors also require a spider tool to open the lockring on the chainring – the chainring needs to be loosened to remove the motor cover and access the motor's interior. If you want to replace the chainring (due to wear or to change the gear ratio), you'll often need a spider tool as well . You can find the necessary special tool in our shop. Finally, removing the motor cover usually requires a Torx or Allen wrench. For installing the modules, appropriate pliers from the electronics sector are suitable.
If you don't opt for a tuning solution that requires installation in the engine compartment ( such as a tuning box or software ), you won't need the necessary tools. You'll find further tips in our guide .

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
