SpeedBox 3.1 for Bafang M300, M400 and M420 (4-pin connector)
This tuning module lifts the 25 km/h speed limit of Bafang Max Drive M300, M400 and M420 e-bike motors with 4-pin connector completely.
There's even the option to adjust the maximum motor support level to a desired value. This allows the tuning to be optimally tailored to your personal needs. The module is conveniently controlled via the e-bike's control buttons; neither a smartphone nor a PC is required.
Another benefit of the SpeedBox 3.1 is that the e-bike display continues correct data displays.
Advantages of the SpeedBox 3.1 at a glance
- Repeal of the 25 km/h speed limit.
- Maximum speed can be individually adjusted: You can set the maximum assisted speed by switching the mode down three steps and then up three steps again. The current speed limit will then be displayed. You can now set the maximum speed by briefly pressing the LIGHT button or rotating the rear wheel 360°. The last displayed speed limit will then be saved after 5 seconds of inactivity.
- Correct values in the e-bike display: Even when tuning is switched on, the e-bike display shows correct values (speed, maximum and average speed, range, daily distance, etc.).
- Tuning can be switched on and off: The SpeedBox 3.1 can be easily activated/deactivated using the control buttons on the e-bike display. To activate the tuning, you can either press the LIGHT button or + - + -. The display will then briefly show 99 km/h – this signals that the tuning module has been activated and the speed limit has been lifted. Pressing the LIGHT button again will deactivate the tuning. A brief display of 25 km/h then indicates that the tuning module has been deactivated and the maximum assisted speed will once again end at 25 km/h. The e-bike will then function as if no tuning chip were installed.
- The SpeedBox 3.1 chip does not require its own battery.

Tools
To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
