Bosch E-Bike Tuning: The SpeedBox 3.0 for Bosch 2020 (Generation 4) with crank puller is the professional solution to unlock your Bosch e-bike with Gen4 motor (backwards compatible to Gen2).
Tip: If you have the SpeedBox 3.0 into a brand new Bosch e-bike, you must ride the bike for at least 10 km before you can SpeedBox turn it on for the first time.
Important: The SpeedBox 3.0 completely removes the speed limit of your Bosch drive – this smart third-generation chip now even offers the option of setting the speed limit yourself.
Correct speed on the display
Even with active tuning, the e-bike display still shows the correct speed. This also applies to all other data such as maximum and average speed, daily distance, and range – thanks to improved software, the odometer now displays even more precise values than before.
As already mentioned, there are SpeedBox 3.0 even has a brand-new feature: You now have the option to set the maximum top speed to an individual value.
The SpeedBox 3.0 was developed from the ground up to be able to outsmart Bosch's tuning detection software. Therefore, this tuning tool works not only with older Bosch drives, but also with the very latest generation Bosch 2020 motors (see below for exact compatibility).
SpeedBox 3.0: High quality

Tuning can be switched on and off
You have the option to conveniently activate the tuning using the WALK button on the display. As soon as the WALK button is pressed, the display briefly shows 9,9 km/h. This signals that the tuning has been activated and you can ride at unlimited speed.
As soon as you press the WALK button again, the SpeedBox 3.0 chip is switched off again. The display shows 2,5 km/h to indicate that the tuning has been deactivated and the maximum assisted speed is back at 25 km/h. The e-bike will then function exactly as it did before the installation of the SpeedBox 3.0.
If your e-bike does not have a WALK button, you can use the SpeedBox simply use the key combination + - + -.
Setting the maximum speed
To set the maximum speed, change the mode: Turbo - EMTB - Tour - Eco - Tour - EMTB - Turbo. The current speed limit will then be displayed.
If you want to change the current maximum speed, briefly press the WALK button or rotate the rear wheel 360°. A displayed speed of 1,5 km/h corresponds to a maximum speed of 15 km/h, a displayed speed of 2,0 km/h corresponds to a maximum speed of 20 km/h, 3,0 km/h on the display corresponds to a maximum speed of 30 km/h, 9,9 km/h represents unlimited speed, etc. After five seconds of inactivity, the last saved limit is saved.
If you have a 4th-generation Bosch e-bike motor (model year 2020 or later), you must leave the e-bike switched on after completing your ride until the display shows a constant speed of 0,0 km/h. During this time, the display will show the remaining time in minutes. After that, the e-bike can be parked.

To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
