SpeedBox 3.0 B.Tuning for Specialized (Incl. Specialized SL)
This third generation tuning chip combines the SpeedBox 3.0 Tuning Module with the practical SpeedBox App. The maximum speed can be customized. The app not only allows you to control the tuning, but also monitor and record your driving data. There are also other interesting additional features such as an engine lock or the option to hide the tuning.
SpeedBox 3.0 you can set the speed limit of Specialized E-bikes with TCU/TCD units completely cancel (including Specialized SL). In addition, the maximum speed can even be set to an individual value. Tuning activation
The tuning can be activated by turning the e-bike off and on again twice. After that, the tuning remains permanently activated. By default, the maximum speed is set to 50 km/h (indicated by the brief 50 km/h display on the screen). All riding parameters can be adjusted via the SpeedBox Conveniently monitor the app.
The actual achievable top speed depends on various factors, such as rider weight and cadence.
Setting the maximum speed
You can easily set the desired maximum speed using the SpeedBox App. Alternatively, there is also a manual option for setting the max speed:
From TURBO mode, switch the modes down three steps and then up three steps again (TURBO - TRAIL - ECO - OFF - ECO - TRAIL - TURBO). The display will then show a maximum assisted speed of 25 km/h. Simply press the WALK button to increase the maximum speed in 5 km/h increments (some display types may round to whole numbers). After five seconds of inactivity, the last saved limit is saved. Now, simply confirm the set limit by turning the e-bike off and on twice.
The currently set maximum speed can be checked at any time by entering the key combination + - + -.
SpeedBox App
This “B.Tuning” variant of the SpeedBox 3.0 Tuning Chips can be connected via Bluetooth with the specially developed SpeedBox App This allows you to benefit from various practical features and also allows you to monitor your performance much better.
The SpeedBox App shows absolutely accurate data, which are read directly by the e-bike's control unit. Most sports apps, on the other hand, only use rough estimates, so the displayed data can deviate from the e-bike's actual data by up to 20 percent.

Installation
The installation of the SpeedBox 3.0 is nice and simple, because the module is not installed in the engine compartment, as is the case with other tuning modules, but in the frame of the e-bike under the TCU/TCD unit.
The connection to the e-bike is easily established via the connectors on the module. For installation, the TCU/TCD unit must be temporarily removed.

Important: If you are the SpeedBox If you install it on a brand new e-bike, you must first ride the bike for at least 10 km before activating the tuning for the first time.

In general, we advise against performing software updates on e-bikes, as the tuning may no longer work properly afterwards.
If you have the software of your Specialized If you still want to update your e-bikes, you should proceed as follows:
-First, you need to set the maximum speed to 25 km/h. To do this, gradually lower the mode three steps, then increase it three steps. To confirm the setting, turn the e-bike off and on again twice.
-Turn off the e-bike again and remove the SpeedBox from the frame of the e-bike.
-Update the software.
-Build the SpeedBox again and activate it by switching the e-bike off and on twice.
To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.

Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees.
