SpeedBox 3.1 for Yamaha PW-X3, PW-S2
This tuning tool not only completely removes the 25 km/h speed limit of Yamaha PW-X3 and PW-S2 engines, you can even set the maximum speed individually.
It's a 3rd-generation tuning module that can be conveniently switched on and off using the bike's control buttons. Even with active tuning, the display shows real-world values.
To operate the SpeedBox 3.1 module you do not need a PC or smartphone.
Advantages of the SpeedBox 3.1 Modules at a glance
- The 25 km/h speed limit is lifted.
- Maximum speed can be set individually: You can set the maximum assisted speed by first switching the mode down three levels, then up three levels. The current speed limit will then be displayed. You can now change the maximum speed by briefly pressing the light button or rotating the rear wheel 360°. After five seconds of inactivity, the last displayed speed limit will be saved.
- Correct values in the e-bike display: Even with tuning activated, the display shows correct values, e.g. top speed, average speed, range and daily distance.
- The tuning can be switched on and off: Activate the tuning module by pressing the light button on the display or the key combination ↑↓↑↓ (or +-+-). To confirm that the tuning has been activated and the speed limit has been removed, the display will briefly show 99 km/h. To deactivate the tuning, simply press the light button again. The display will then briefly show 25 km/h – this signals that the tuning has been canceled and the motor assistance will end again at 25 km/h.
- The SpeedBox 3.1 module does not require its own battery.
Mounting
The SpeedBox 3.1 is a chip or module that must be connected to the motor (see illustration). This means you'll need to access the corresponding connectors on the motor. To simplify installation, color-coded connectors are used, which are equipped with a key for correct connection. You can also install the module yourself.
If you ever want to restore the e-bike to its original state, you can uninstall the chip at any time.
Important hints:
If you have the SpeedBox 3.1 into a brand new Yamaha e-bike, you must first ride the bike for at least 1 km before starting the module for the first time.
If you want to update the software of your e-bike, you must SpeedBox first uninstall from the e-bike. Install the SpeedBox then re-enter after the update.
Tip: If you want your tuning with even more comfort and additional features, you can SpeedBox 3.1 for Yamaha PW-X3 also in a “B.Tuning” variant that comes with the practical SpeedBox App is compatible. You will then benefit from practical additional features.

This tuning module is only compatible with Yamaha PW-X3 & PW-S2 E-bike drives.
Not compatible with Yamaha:
PW-SE, PW-X, PW-TE, PW-CE, PW-X2

To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
