SpeedBox - Tuning tool for Shimano Steps E6000 e-bikes
If you have an e-bike with Shimano Steps drive system and the 25 km/h speed limit of the motor support is starting to get on your nerves, the SpeedBox Exactly the right solution! With this ingenious tuning tool, the speed limit on your e-bike will be a thing of the past!
You can do that SpeedBox Turn on the module at any time by pressing the light button on your e-bike – the speed limit is immediately removed, allowing you to ride much faster with motor support. The light symbol will illuminate to indicate whether the tuning is active or not. If you want to turn the tuning off, simply press the light button again, and your Shimano Steps e-bike will have its original riding characteristics back (assistance up to 25 km/h).
Note: To the SpeedBox To use the module for Shimano Steps drives, your e-bike's lighting function must be activated. If this isn't the case, simply contact your trusted e-bike dealer or bike repair shop. They have equipment that can be used to activate the lighting function of your Shimano Steps system.
Note: This SpeedBox 1.0 for Shimano is not Compatible with Shimano E8000 motors.
Activation: 1) E-bikes with Shimano activated light: Light on -> SpeedBox deactivated / light off -> SpeedBox activated. When light and SpeedBox are to be switched on simultaneously, the light cable coming from the Speedbox must not be connected to the e-bike. 2) E-bikes without Shimano-activated light: The SpeedBox is always active in this case.
Another note from our side: If you activate the Speed Box for Shimano Steps, your display only half the actual speed. This means that if your display shows (for example) 22 km/h, you are actually driving twice as fast, or around 44 km/h.

Tools
To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
