Splug for Panasonic & Flyer (2-pin)

The Splug is an innovative E-Bike tuning tool for various Panasonic drives & Flyer bikes (+AEG / Bafang). The prerequisite is that they are equipped with a 2-pin plug connection (see photos). Splug A weatherproof dongle to remove the speed limit, allowing you to utilize the e-bike's full potential. A major advantage is that the tuning can be turned on and off at any time by plugging or unplugging the dongle. The advantage: Once the dongle is removed, no tuning-related components remain on the bike..

Compared to conventional tuning chips and modules that are permanently installed on the e-bike, the Splug The dongle can be removed at any time. Since the entire tuning hardware and software is located in the dongle itself, only the corresponding wiring harness remains on the e-bike when removed.

The Splug is a tuning solution that works very safely and reliably. A special feature is that the SplugCompared to other dongles, it can even be "programmed" to a certain extent. For example, the desired maximum speed can be individually set.

However, programming is not absolutely necessary. Since the Splug Dongle is always in "Tuning permanently activated" mode when delivered, tuning can be switched on and off at any time by plugging or unplugging the dongle (Dongle inserted = tuning active & speed limit completely removed / dongle pulled = tuning deactivated, normal speed behavior with support up to 25 km/h).

The maximum speed that can be reached after the limit has been lifted always depends on the model in question and external factors such as the rider's weight, gradient, condition of the tires, etc. However, speeds well over 30 km/h can usually be reached without any problems with full motor support.

Once the dongle has been removed, the Splug There are no longer any tamper-evident components on the bike. The handling is then completely "normal" and complies with the German Road Traffic Act (StVO) regulations, with a maximum speed of 25 km/h.

Weatherproof magnetic connectors ensure a secure connection

So that Splug Before the dongle can be attached to the e-bike, a suitable bracket and cable harness must first be attached to the bike using cable ties. The plugs at the end of the cable harness must be connected to the connectors on the drive. To ensure a secure connection, the dongle and bracket are equipped with robust, weather-resistant magnetic connectors. Splug can be plugged in or removed in no time at all. The connection is rock solid and completely weatherproof, so that neither moisture nor dirt from outside can penetrate into the Splug can penetrate. The product was specifically tested on trails and downhills, where it has proven itself to be extremely effective.

The dongle

Attaching the SplugIt's extremely easy, as you simply place it near the mount, and the dongle automatically attracts you thanks to its strong magnetic force (=tuning activated). Removing it is just as simple. The dongle is very compact, so it can easily be stored in your pocket or backpack after removal.

The Splug Dongle does not require an extra battery, power is supplied by the e-bike battery.

.

The tuning principle

The Splug Dongle comes from "MountainTuning", to which we have already provided numerous excellent tuning solutions such as the MTT SmartSensor and the MTT SmartChip All these tunings have always been characterized by a very high level of reliability. Splug works according to a very similar principle:

After installation, the Splug analyze and process the current speed profile, and—if tuning is activated—output manipulated values. This circumvents the preset 25 km/h speed limit, allowing much faster driving with full engine support.

During tuning, there is no intervention in the engine electronics; the dongle simply intercepts the sensor signal and forwards manipulated values so that the drive is unlocked.

Correct speed only up to just under 25 km/h

Please note: Due to the tuning principle mentioned above, when tuning is active, the correct speed is only shown on the display up to approx. 22 - 25 km/h. At higher speeds, the displayed value is "frozen" so that the same speed is always shown.

Therefore, the system's total mileage display will no longer correspond to the actual distance traveled.

Tip: Simply use GPS-enabled devices like your smartphone if you want to see your real speed while on the go. brackets can be found directly in our shop.

.

Splug Settings

In contrast to other tuning dongles, the settings of the Splugs can be customized to a certain extent. For example, you can set the maximum supported speed (VMax) or choose between three different operating modes.

Programming is done when the e-bike is started up by means of specific wheel movements, during which the spoke magnet is moved past the sensor. However, programming is optional and not mandatory. Splug After installation, the dongle is always in “tuning permanently active” mode with the speed limit completely removed.

Three selectable operating modes (with dongle plugged in):

  • Tuning permanently activated (Factory setting): Speed limit is lifted, correct speed display only up to approx. 22 km/h.
  • Tuning permanently deactivated: Motor support up to 25 km/h, correct speed display.
  • Tuning according to switch-on condition: Here you can spontaneously decide whether tuning should be activated or not when turning on the bike. To activate tuning, the magnet must be in front of the sensor for at least 4 seconds when turning on the e-bike (sensor active); otherwise, tuning remains deactivated.

The maximum assisted speed can also be individually adjusted using specific wheel movements. Further information can be found in the manual.

.

Installation

During installation, the wiring harness of the Splugs installed. To do this, the wiring harness must be plugged into the sensor signal in the engine compartment. The magnetic connector bracket must be attached to the frame with the supplied cable ties. Then the Splug be put on it.

The connecting cable, which must be routed from the bracket on the frame to the connectors on the motor, is extra thin and sturdy. To access the connectors in the engine compartment, the plastic cover of the motor (and sometimes a crank) must be temporarily removed.

To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor

Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank pullerSome engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.

Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters

We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.

Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
