The VOLspeed V3 is a particularly versatile tuning module for many e-bikes and pedelecs with Yamaha drive systemIt is suitable for the following engine types PW-X / PW-X2 / PW-SE / PW-ST / PW-TE / PW-CE / Air Drive – and this has been the case for numerous model years.
The module removes the 25 km/h speed limit and also allows individual adjustment of the speed limiter within a certain range. 25 to 45 km / hThis allows the driving behavior to be adapted much more freely to one's own wishes.
A special advantage of the VOLspeed V3 is the optional one. Dynamic modeIn this mode, the otherwise often abrupt reduction in speed is noticeably softened. The result is a smoother, more pleasant driving experience – especially during sporty driving.
All settings can be conveniently adjusted directly via the E-bike display or control unit This can be done without needing a PC or smartphone.

The VOLspeed The module is installed invisibly on the engine from the outside. No cables need to be damaged or modified. The module is simply plugged in and is then immediately ready for use.
To access the connectors, the engine cover must be temporarily removed.
Required tool:
PW-SE / PW-ST / PW-TE: 3 & 6 mm Allen wrenches, ideally a torque ratchet
PW-X: 3, 5 & 6 mm Allen wrenches, ideally a torque wrench, chainring wrench
What's particularly convenient is that both the Speed limit as well as the Wheel circumference The settings can be adjusted directly via the display. This allows the system to be optimally adapted to the respective bike.
Unlike many simpler tuning solutions, this one allows for... VOLspeed V3 not only removes the limit – through a moderate setting, e.g. to 32 km/h, a sporty driving style with comparatively moderate battery consumption is also possible.
In the third version of the module, a personal activation code added. Furthermore, no separate setup is required after installation, as the module initializes automatically and is immediately ready for use.
Note regarding bikes with Interface X: This module can also be used with Interface X. In this case, tuning settings and operating status are indicated via the battery LED. An additional display or smartphone is then not required for normal operation. Only for the optional setting of a custom activation code or wheel circumference is an additional ANT+ LEV compatible display required, capable of showing speed and total mileage.

To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
