Finally there is a tuning module suitable for Yamaha Moro 07 E-bikes with PW-X3 motors and Interface X. The VOLspeed V3 module not only removes the 25 km/h speed limit, but also offers various other optimization options, such as setting a softer throttle response. Overall, the VOLspeed V3 is one of the most interesting and versatile tuning modules for Yamaha e-bikes ever!
Background: On the MORO 07, Yamaha uses a special speed sensor that is installed directly on the wheel hub. The previous VOLspeed The V3 tuning module didn't fit this sensor, which necessitated the development of a suitable tuning specifically for the MORO 07 bike. This makes the MORO 07 one of the few Yamaha-branded e-bikes that can be unlocked (August 2024).
The VOLspeed V3 is a tuning module that is installed invisibly on the motor. The module's settings can be conveniently controlled via the e-bike's control buttons; neither a PC nor a smartphone is required. The module is maintenance-free and requires no battery.
VOLspeed V3 for Yamaha MORO 07 – Features
-Removal of the 25 km/h speed limit
-Maximum speed freely adjustable: The desired maximum speed can be individually set using the arrow keys on the display within a range of 25–45 km/h (the last set value remains saved). One advantage of this is that even a moderate increase in the maximum speed (e.g., only to 32 km/h) allows for a significantly sportier driving style without excessively increasing battery consumption.
-After installation, the module is immediately ready for use; no complex setup is necessary.
-Dynamic mode: In this optional mode, a softer throttle response can be set – this means that the engine support no longer stops so abruptly when the set maximum speed is reached (reduced “wall effect”).
This results in a much more pleasant driving experience. The dynamic mode is a truly unique feature of the VOLspeed Tuning modules!
-After turning on the e-bike, tuning is always initially OFF. Tuning can then be turned on and off at any time using the arrow keys.
-The module's electronics are securely encapsulated in the housing and are therefore protected from moisture.
Additional features with an existing display (ANT+ LEV):
-Correct display of current speed and distance traveled.
-Very accurate remaining range calculation with active tuning, as in addition to the battery charge level, other factors are also taken into account, e.g. the selected support level as well as the current riding style and battery consumption.
-Correct total mileage of the e-bike, even after removing the VOLspeed V3 tuning module. This is because the mileage in the engine control unit is tracked by the module.
VOLspeed V3 for Yamaha MORO 07 - Installation
The VOLspeed V3 is a module that simply connects directly to the connectors on the motor. To access the connectors, the left crank (optional) and the left motor cover must be temporarily removed. Allen keys (2 mm / 8 mm) are required for installation. Once installed, the module is not visible from the outside.
Since no cables need to be modified or damaged during installation, the module can be removed at any time and the e-bike can be restored to its original condition.

Tools
To install an E-Bike tuning chip in your E-Bike it is sometimes special tools necessary. Please check previously whether you have to open the engine compartment to access the motor connectors. This is especially true for products from the Modules, Kit, Dongle and Sensor.
Normally (but not always) opening the engine compartment requires loosening the crank. To do this, you will need a Crank puller. Some engines also have a Spider Tool This is important for opening the lock ring on the chainring - because the chainring must be loosened here so that the motor cover can be removed to access the inside of the motor. If you want to replace the chainring (wear, change the gear ratio), you often need a Spider Tool. The necessary special tools can also be found in our shop. To remove the engine cover, you usually need a Torx or Allen key. For installing the modules, appropriate Pliers from the electronics sector.
Do you decide not for a tuning solution that you have to install in the engine compartment (Box, Software), there is no need for any tools. In our Guide you will find further tips.

Important information on tuning measures for e-bikes and e-scooters
We expressly point out that any modification to e-bikes and e-scooters – whether through hardware tuning (e.g. tuning chips, dongles, sensor adapters) or software tuning (e.g. apps, programs or USB tools) – can have consequences.
Tuning measures on e-bikes and e-scooters mean that they are no longer permitted for use on public roads as defined by the StVZO (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations). Legal use is therefore only possible on private property or - if permitted - in competitions. Riding an e-bike or e-scooter modified by tuning measures on public roads can lead to criminal liability for driving without a license (Section 21 of the Road Traffic Act) and driving without insurance (Section 6 of the PflVG). Tuning measures on e-bikes can lead to the loss of warranty rights and manufacturer guarantees. Furthermore, tuning measures can lead to the loss of insurance coverage and benefits from accident victim assistance in the event of an accident. The e-bike (or e-scooter) modified by tuning measures is subject to additional stress due to the higher speed, which can lead to safety risks.
